Kasal, starring Bea Alonzo, Derek Ramsay and Paulo Avelino, earned P10 million in the box office on its opening day.
This was revealed by Star Cinema on Thursday, May 17, a day after the romance drama opened in theaters nationwide.
ABS-CBN film production arm announced this through Instagram and provided the caption: "Congratulations, Team Kasal! 10 million THANK YOUS mula sa aming lahat para sa lahat ng sumuporta sa Star Cinema initial offering on its first day."
In her Instagram account, Bea opened up about the realizations she made while doing this film about a woman struggling to deal with her upcoming wedding and her issues with her father (played by Ricky Davao).
Her character Lia is about to get married to Philip (played by Paulo Avelino) but her life becomes complicated when her ex-boyfriend Wado (played by Derek Ramsay) returns to her life.
Bea posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the movie and wrote: "In bed right now thinking of the premiere night tom of "KASAL"..You will finally get to see the movie..
"Playing Lia made me realize a lot of things about my own life like how to embrace my reality.. And she also gave me a new perspective about forgiveness and true happiness.. I am feeling so blessed that i was given another opportunity to play a very interesting and complex character and work with such amazing and talented people on and off the camera.. Sometimes, it's not just about watching a movie, it is about the experience of seeing the journey of the characters.. And let me leave it at that. #buhaypelikula #roadtokasal"
Directed by Ruel Bayani, Kasal is Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).
