Director Ruel S. Bayani discussed how they shot intimate scenes of Derek Ramsay, Bea Alonzo, and Paulo Avelino in Kasal.

It did not take a lot of convincing before Bea Alonzo, Paulo Avelino, and Derek Ramsay agreed to do all their love scenes for Kasal.

This was revealed by the film's director, Ruel Bayani, when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked him about the intimate scenes in this Star Cinema film.

In fact, according to him, all three actors were already aware that they will do intimate scenes in the movie before cameras started rolling.

Bayani said, "Oo, from the start, lahat ng controversial scenes, nandoon na, so even without me identifying them or detailing them...

"Ganito na lang, pansinin mo, lahat ng pelikula ko recently, No Other Woman—Anne Curtis, Derek, Cristine Reyes, One More Try—Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo, to Bea, Paulo, Derek, nakikipagtrabaho lang ako sa mature actors.

"Kasi, nandon ako sa process wherein ini-involve ko sila, ayoko ng magpipilitan pa kami at ipapaliwanag ko ng sobra, di ba, usually when you’re younger?

"But when you have maturity, mas malawak na yung understanding mo, mas malawak na rin yung range of emotions na meron ka.

"That’s why hindi ko nakikita yung sarili ko directing actors from a different age bracket, malakas ang loob kong sabihin yun kasi hindi naman ako madalas magdirect, bihira lang naman."

Bayani is happy that Bea, Paulo, and Derek were very open to doing such scenes, especially since they took part in a controversial scene that was already revealed to viewers who have seen the film.

"Alam na nila lahat ng love scenes, alam nila lahat ng difficult scenes, so nag-uusap lang kami para idetalye," disclosed Bayani during the May 17 blogger's conference for Kasal held at ABS-CBN's 9501 Restaurant.

"Pero hindi namin kailangang magpilitan, hindi namin kailangang maging sensitive sa kahit anong bagay, they’re really professional actors, mature at saka into their craft.

"They’re so into their craft na nasa ibang level na ang usapan namin, hindi rin basta baring of skin lang, wala na kami sa mababaw na yan, nandon na kami sa mas malalim, and yun yung advantage working with mature actors.

"Ako lang siguro ang malakas ang loob mag-declare ng ganun kasi yes, that’s why all my movies, pansinin niyo lalo na nitong huli na, naka-lock na yun, e.

"So when people say, some actors will say, 'Direk, i-direct mo naman ako,' diretso kong sinasabing at saka na, pag mature ka na, kasi hindi ito ang time, kailangan mong pagdaanan ang buhay para pag nagharap-harap na tayo ay mas maging malalim ang proseso natin."

The director, who also serves as a business unit head for ABS-CBN teleseryes, also pointed out why the actors did not feel any awkwardness while shooting the sensitive scenes.

He explained, "You know why? Because walang nag-sign up sa movie na hindi alam na delicate yung story na complicated yung characters.

"Walang gulatan dito. I don’t believe na gugulatin mo yung isang tao na kailangan mo ito.

"I find that disrespectful sa actors na biglang, 'O Bea, hubad ka dito,' hindi, e.

"Bibiglain ko lang siya, doon lang mismo? Kung sa akin din gagawin yun, artista ako, hindi din ako matutuwa.

"So it’s really a lot of respect, respeto sa proseso, respect sa co-actors, respect ko sa kanilang lahat as director."
