Dingdong Dantes on not wanting to be typecast in just one genre: "Meron tayong ways of determining what the people want. As entertainers, hindi ko naman masyado mantra na kailangan seryosohin na pag sinabi kong drama, dapat drama lahat ginagawa ko. Mas gusto ko kung ano magpapasaya ng tao."

Dingdong Dantes said there’s still no official word about his rumored movie teamup with Vice Ganda.

This was in relation to earlier reports that he and Vice Ganda will supposedly star in a Metro Manila Film Fest entry that has a similar vibe with Hollywood film The Greatest Showman.

“Wala pang binibigay na detalye sa akin about that. Pero nung nabalitaan ko nga, sabi ko, ‘Wow, that would be a privilege.’

“Pero with regards to kung ano yung totoong mangyayari, kung ano yung totoong proyekto wala pa naman kumakausap sa akin about it.”

But Dingdong did confirm that he’s set to start shooting for his two movies this year.

Will these movies be submitted for MMFF 2018?

Dingdong answered, “Yung isa parang hindi. Yung isa posibleng oo.  Basta yung dalawang yun wala sa plinano ko this year. So bagong dumating.”

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment reporters interviewed Dingdong at the media launch of GMA Network’s weekly infotainment program Amazing Earth, which can be seen every Sunday at 6:10 p.m.

BACK TO HOSTING. Amazing Earth is a Philippine presentation of BBC's Planet Earth II, a documentary series featuring wildlife unique to various places across the globe.

Dingdong also said that Amazing Earth showcases content from Planet Earth but also new ones taken here in the Philippines.

"Siniguro ng team ng Amazing Earth mailagay ang flavor ng pagiging Pinoy. Kagaya nitong segment we will feature amazing heroes in our every destination.

"They are the local heroes na nakaka-relate sa existing na hayop sa kanilang lugar and how they take care of nature."

So far, Amazing Earth has explored beautiful diving spots in Batangas, including Verde Island Passage which has been declared as Center of Marine Shorefish Biodeversity of The World in 2006.

Talking about what the show hopes to impart to viewers, Dingdong said, "Hindi naman ako scientist. Hindi naman ako eksperto sa larangan ng species rito.

"But one thing’s for sure, we all belong to this planet. We are all responsible for what we do here.

"So mahalagang bagay na alamin natin that we are not only the species here. We have animals and plants around us.

"Alamin natin kung ano sila and how to co-exist with them para mas magiging harmonious ang pagsasama natin dito sa nag-iisa nating planeta."

NEW TELESERYE. Aside from hosting Amazing Earth, Dingdong confirmed that he will also headline a new teleserye before the year ends.

"Pero meron akong gagawin this season, definitely this year."

Will it be an action-packed series like Alyas Robinhood or does he prefer a drama soap this time around?

"Depende sa gusto ng viewers natin," Dingdong replied.

"Meron tayong ways of determining what the people want. As entertainers, hindi ko naman masyado mantra na kailangan seryosohin na pag sinabi kong drama, dapat drama lahat ginagawa ko. Mas gusto ko kung ano magpapasaya ng tao."
