Iza Calzado once again kissed another woman for an indie film.
For her Cinemalaya 2018 entry Distance, Iza shot a kissing scene with Max Eigenmann whom she described as "her lover."
In 2013, Iza already shot a kissing scene with Eugene Domingo for their indie film Mga Kuwentong Barbero (Barber's Tales).

The 14th edition of Cinemalaya will take place from August 3-12, with the entries to be screened at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and select Ayala Malls such as Glorietta, Greenbelt, UP Town Center in Katipunan, and SM City in Legazpi, Albay.
In the Cinemalaya 2018 entry Distance, Iza's character kissed her lover who was her college friend.
Iza's character was married to Nonie Buencamino but she abandoned him five years ago since she chose to live with her female lover.
With no questions asked and no conditions, Nonie's character invites her back to his and their two children’s lives.
Therese "Teri" Malvar is cast as one of the daughters of Iza and Nonie.
During the July 4 press con of Cinemalaya 2018 held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Iza explained what she liked about playing a lesbian character:
"Ang gusto ko siguro sa kanya, kasi it takes courage and guts to stay true to what you feel.
"So when she left kasi parang I don’t think she left with the intention to really leave them totally. And then something happened lang that made her stay with her lover.
"Siguro ang kaibahan lang namin is that parang siya she totally disconnected herself with the family. I think I would have talked to them at least. At yun nga, yun yung character niya, e."
ON SAME-SEX RELATIONSHIPS. Was there a time in Iza's life when she became attracted to another woman?
Iza answered, "I’ve always had crushes on women, but I’ve never been sexually attracted in a way that I wanna have, you know.
"Yeah, even growing up, kasi I went to an all-girl’s school and parang even in college sabi ko, 'Am I [a lesbian]?'
"I’m not. I like guys too much but I appreciate women in all shapes and sizes and forms, but especially when they are like very pleasing to the eyes and super beautiful face. Ay ang ganda! I really appreciate."
Was there ever a time when she felt confusion about her sexual preference?
"I never had a girlfriend, if that’s what you’re asking," Iza pointed out.
Did another girl ever try to court Iza in the past?
"Nung grade school parang may mga lumiligaw-ligaw," she recalled. "Kasi ano pa naman ako dahil siyempre medyo boyish kasi, di ba, I was big. So medyo lapitin ka din ng girls, e.
"I mean grade school lang yun parang may nagpadala lang ng letter. Hello? Ano ba!
"Anyway, nung college...but then wala talaga kasi I always had a boyfriend so wala silang oportunidad na maka, ganoon. Wala, e. Hindi makasingit."
However, Iza admitted that she did think about entering a same-sex relationship.
"Well, I’ve thought about it. You know, especially after every heartbreak you’re like, 'Maybe I’m meant to be with a woman.' Like, 'Maybe guys won’t work.'
"Hindi, e, hindi din. Honestly for me it’s not even about gender. What if you fall in love with a person? What if the person’s the perfect fit for you? And honestly I’m not looking for a woman but, di ba? You never know what life will bring."
ON KISSING ANOTHER WOMAN. When Iza kissed her female co-star Max, she said about the experience: "Para lang din nung ‘pag hinalikan ko si ano, yung iba kong mga co-actors."
Did it feel awkward for her to kiss another girl?
"No," said Iza. "Mga dalawa o tatlong [takes].
"I mean, kissing is kissing. We’re in front of so many people.”
Does it make a difference for her if she is kissing a guy or a girl?
Iza disclosed, "For me, wala. Kasi when I went there I’m like, 'This is my co-actor, this is my scene partner.'
"Yeah, she’s a woman but she’s also a human being."
The ABS-CBN actress recalled that she and Max just laughed after doing their kissing scene.
"It’s more of...the minute you say cut, you realize, 'Oh my God, I just kissed a girl!'
"So there’s like a giggly like 'Oh my God!' Pero honestly when you’re doing it, kasi it’s the same way I have to make myself believe I wanna kiss this other person. Lalake man siya o babae. You think maybe...no, it’s the same. I’m trying to think if there’s any difference, wala talaga, e.
"People are people."
Iza then declared, "I would love to kiss a transgender."
When asked why she wants to do this, Iza explained, "Titignan ko kung different din. Kasi I wanna try, e."
