Sherwin Ordoñez is making a sexy comeback through his indie film Kurap, which is directed by Ronnie Bertubin.
Kurap (international title: Blink) also stars Jojit Lorenzo, newcomers Ashley Rhain Arca, Christian Burke and Jeff Luna. Written by Romualdo Avellanosa of Sikil, it is the first film produced by Silangan Pictures with Antonio de Guzman Jr. as producer.
It reveals the greed and corruption among small-time criminals in the streets of Manila. The GMA contract artist is tapped to play Ambet, a young man who is desperate to earn cash for his sister afflicted with glaucoma. They live in an abandoned building in downtown Manila. A photojournalist named Marlon (Jojit) entices Ambet to become a spy for a TV show and the police regarding the illegal activities being conducted by his buddies. When he becomes a whistleblower, can Ambet face the consequences of his actions?
Ronaldo Bertubin's second feature film Kurap had its world premiere in the Asian and Arab competition section of the 10th Osian's Film Festival in New Delhi last July.
Kurap will have its premiere night (Director's Cut) on November 8 (Saturday) 7 PM at Cine Adarna in UP Diliman, QC.
Its regular showing will begin on November 12 (Wednesday) at the following venues: Robinsons Galeria (Ortigas City), Robinson's Place Ermita (Manila), Gotesco Grand Central (Monumento), Remar (Manila), ABC Theater (Guadalupe, Makati City), at Cinerama ng Isetann (Recto).
