Dance films to be screened in QC this November

Every Thursday night, free screenings of dance films will be shown at Dance Forum Space in Quezon City. This will pave the way for the two-night show titled Corpus, which will be held on November 29-30.

For the entire month of November, free screenings of dance films will be held at Dance Forum Space in Quezon City every Thursday night as a precursor to Corpus. This is a two-night show on November 29 and 30 featuring the choreography of Myra Beltran, Paul Morales, Ava Maureen Villanueva, Rhosam Prudenciado, Mia Cabalfin, and Jed Amihan.

Presented in cooperation with Airdance, Corpus opens the 11th year season of Dance Forum Space, headed by Myra Beltran, a pioneering force of independent contemporary dance in the country. Corpus serves as a choreographers' forum and provides dancers with an intimate interaction with the audience. The show connotes that the body and bodies are eventually placed together, creating a sequence. The bodies in sequence are then plotted in a matrix, but within it, it contains the idea of liberation, of rupture," she says.

She adds, "Aside from continuing the efforts of Dance Forum Space to further grow the movement of independent dance, this month-long event is also part of our efforts to sustain year-long activities related to independent dance. A few months ago, Wifi Body Festival 3, an independent contemporary dance festival, was held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Corpus is the next step after that, and it is also a ‘bridge' of sorts in preparation for next year's festival. We always want to keep the spirit and energy going."

In cooperation with Alliance Francaise de Manille, the films to be screened are as follows:
