Heart Evangelista is not filming the Crazy Rich Asians sequel in China.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) received information from an insider that the script of the Hollywood movie has not been written yet.
The source also revealed that Crazy Rich Asians sequel will start shooting in the fall of 2020 because director Jon Chu will be doing a movie until the summer of next year.
There have been articles published in Philippine news outlets indicating that Heart is in China to shoot the follow-up of Crazy Rich Asians, the film adaptation of a novel about the wealthy Singapore elite.
Titled China Rich Girlfriend, the sequel will continue the story of engaged couple Rachel Chu (played by Constance Wu) and Nick Young (played by Henry Golding).
There are those speculating that Heart will portray the character Colette Bing, a wealthy heiress and social media influencer.
In China Rich Girlfriend, Colette is introduced as the girlfriend of a luxury car-loving guy named Carlton Bao.
The insider from the Crazy Rich Asians camp pointed out that it is TV season which is why Constance Wu is in Los Angeles, California.
Most of the cast members of Crazy Rich Asians were present during the awarding ceremony of the 24th Annual Critics' Choice Awards.
They accepted the trophy for Best Comedy during the awards night that took place at the Barker Hangar Santa Monica airport in Santa Monica, California, on January 13, 2019.
Henry Golding, the lead actor who played Nick Young in the movie, is in Milan, Italy.
According to the Hollywood publication Deadline, the producers plan to shoot the Crazy Rich Asians sequels back-to-back.
In the December 2018 article published on deadline.com, writer Anthony D'Alessandro wrote:
"Chu is currently working on the feature adaptation of the Tony Award winner In the Heights, and once that goes into post, he’ll likely prep Crazy Rich Asians 2 & 3 for a 2020 shoot."
In her Instagram account, Heart shared her photos while traveling in China.
She is expected to be in China for a month. She describes her trip as "an adventure like no other.”
