Cherie Gil seems to be missing her onscreen rival, Sharon Cuneta.

On February 16, Cherie posted on her Instagram account a throwback photo of her and Sharon that was probably taken in the early 2000s.

She wrote in the caption, "Great times. Missing this woman @reallysharoncuneta nasan ka na? Thank you @msgirlierodis for the photo from your baul of treasures"

Apart from being very good friends, Cherie and Sharon are known to have portrayed rival characters in their films, which include the iconic movie, Bituing Walang Ningning, shown in 1985.

In that movie, which was based on a comics novel by Nerissa Cabral, Sharon played the movie fan Dorina Pineda, while Cherie portrayed the singing superstar Lavinia Arguelles.

One of its iconic scenes was when Lavinia blurted out the line, "You're nothing but a second-rate, trying hard, copycat!" and splashed red wine on Dorina's face.

Yesterday, February 19, Cherie posted another throwback photo thay was taken in the early 2000s.

This time, Sharon and Cherie were with Dina Bonnevie, their co-star in another hit musical movie, Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas, shown in 1986.

With them in the photo were Girlie Rodis, Cherie's eldest son, Jay, and her estranged husband, Rony Rogoff.

Cherie described the photo in her caption as "Seems like only yesterday."
