"Status: Single" will hold premiere night this Sat, Jan 24

Will Doris (Rufa Mae Quinto) finally find Mr. Right in Status: Single? Will she end up with Jon Avila (in photo) or will she fall for her three other leading men played by Rafael Rosell, Alfred Vargas, and Mark Bautista?

What do you get when you cross the Queen of Sex Comedies with five of today's hottest and sexiest male celebrities?

You get Status: Single, the new wildly sexy comedy-romance from director Jose Javier Reyes. Starring Rufa Mae Quinto as a 30-year-old virgin named Doris. She's in a mad race to make it to the altar after her female friends get married one after the other, leaving her the only one who's still unattached. Status: Single is about a woman's search for the right man.

The movie opens on January 28 as the second co-production venture between Viva Films and Rufa Mae's On-Q 28 Productions, which teamed up to produce Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat. It is their first project for 2009, a timely pre-Valentine offering and Rufa Mae's first movie after the Metro Manila Film Fest entry Desperadas 2.

Lending Rufa Mae able support are the men who play the four contenders in her search for Mr. Right: Rafael Rosell, Alfred Vargas, Mark Bautista and her rumored current flame, Jon Avila. In addition, Paolo Contis plays her very macho but very gay best friend.

"Virgin ako dito, pero may nakaka-date ako na iba't-ibang klaseng lalake sa paghahanap kay Mr. Right," quips Rufa Mae. "The plot is very Sex and the City, very modern, liberated woman, making it the kind of movie a lot of today's women—and men—can relate to, because deep down, no matter how much we may deny it and no matter how much our lifestyle may contradict it, all of us long to find the perfect life partner.

Status: Single also stars Angelu de Leon, Mylene Dizon, Desiree del Valle and LJ Moreno as her female friends who beat her to the altar and pressure her into finally settling down.

The movie will have a mall show this Saturday, January 24,at 5 PM at SM Fairview. It will be followed by the red carpet premiere at Cinema 11 of SM North EDSA at 7:30 PM. On Sunday, January 25, cast members will be at 6 PM at SM Bicutan.

Ironically, says Rufa Mae, in real life, right now, she wants to remain single. "Tapos na ako sa stage na gan'on, yung gustong mag-asawa. I just want to be single and happy... for the meantime!" chuckles the sexy actress.

Status: Single is written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes and opens in theaters nationwide on January 28.
