(From left) Nonie Buencamino, Irma Adlawan, and TJ Tinidad form a love triangle in the Cinemalaya 2009 entry Ang Panggagahasa KayFe. It will be shown at the Cultural Center of the Philippines by July.

Isa si Irma Adlawan sapinaka-mahuhusay at critically-acclaimed stage, film, and television actress nglocal entertainment industry, kung kaya naman sa tagal na niya sa industriya, nakuha na niya ang respeto ng kanyang peers—sa mainstream man or independentscene.

Ngayong taon, sa Cinemalaya 2009,bidang-bida si Irma sa Ang Panggagahasa Kay Fe (internationaltitle: The Rapture of Fe), written and directed by AlvinYapan.

Ayon sa website ngpelikula, "One canonly surmise that Ang Panggagahasa Kay Fe will deal withmultiple issues confronting Filipino society today: the plight of OverseasFilipino Workers, domestic abuse, family role-reversals, extreme poverty, howthese issues are currently being made aware to the general public, and how thismovie is an attempt to portray these long overlooked societal problems in adifferent light."

"Iactually wrote the script for Irma Adlawan, and she was delighted upon knowingthis," kuwento ni Direk Alvin. "Sabi niya, the only otherperson daw na nagsulat na ng script or magsusulat ng script para sa kanya ayang husband niya [writer-director Dennis Marasigan]. Hahaha!

"Co-producing the film is theWomen's Crisis Center (WCC). Our film focuses on the plight of the Filipinowoman displaced by the global financial crisis. This is why it wasimportant for us to get the support of WCC.

"Thestory is set in Pampanga, in the small and medium industry of rattan furnituremanufacturers."

But we had to cut it short kasi on our second day of shoot, nearingmidnight, Irma Adlawan accidentally slipped and hurt herself!

Peroin the end, we were able to convince her to go to the hospital to [have an] X-ray.

"So, we cancelled the shoot, kahit pa she kept insisting that we continue. So, we ended with two clusters of shooting days, almost three weeksapart.

HORRIYING SCENE. Hahaha! May nangyari pang mashorrifying!" mahabang chika ni Direk Alvin.

At ano nga ang mas "horrifyingstory" na 'yon during the shooting? "Naku, muntik lang akomakapagbigti ng tao, hahaha! There's this scene kasi where we harnessedthree ladies to a tree, to look like they were hanged.

"Ayun, during my last take, oneof them fainted and started convulsing and choking in mid-air! Grabe, everyonepanicked!

"After the incident, andaminang lumabas na kuwento na nasapian daw kasi. May babae daw talagang binigtidoon sa punong ginamit namin.

"As in, to a point na kinailangan naming magpa-albularyo lahat sa majorproduction crew para lang makasiguro na hindi kami sinundan sa Manila ng kaluluwanoong babae o kung anuman yung naistorbo namin doon sa puno!

"It's like we're living my script. Nakakatakot talaga! Hahaha!" natatawang kuwento ni Direk Alvin.

ONTHE MALE CAST MEMBERS. How was itworking with TJ Trinidad and Nonie Buencamino?

"Actually, it was a breeze. They are professionals, which made menervous at the start, and really passionate about in further honing theircraft. I really felt that they really consider what they are trying to doas their passion, not just their work.

"Halimbawa, si TJ, hindi siya nag-hesitate when I requested thatwe conduct an acting workshop session, which did not just turn out as an'acting workshop,' dahil he can already calibrate his emotions dependingon what the scene asks.

"The workshop turned out to be a character study on howwe both want his character to go. I distinctly remember this sessionwhere we discussed how his character would walk, his character's posture, giventhe character's backstory. Very interesting.

"Nonie's style, on the other hand, was to field me a lot ofquestions. We kept discussing not just the how's of his character but thewhy's. How his character's scenes will blend with the entire film so he couldadjust if need be.

"So, all in all, very interesting discussions bothwith TJ and Nonie," pagwawakas ni Direk Alvin.
