Ai-Ai delas Alas and Mommy Dionisia will have a dance showdown in Ang Tanging Pamilya

Combine Ang Tanging Ina with Ang Tanging Biyenan and you’ll get the Pinoy version of Meet the Fockers.

Ai-Ai delas Alas, who is known for her grand production numbers during her concerts, will have a dance showdown with ballroom dancer Mommy Dionisia in the upcoming Star Cinema film Ang Tanging Pamilya. The trailer of the movie clearly shows that the mother of Manny Pacquiao has a flair for comedy, especially when using facial expressions.

Directed by Wenn Deramas, Ang Tanging Pamilya: A Marry-Go-Around is a family comedy about two sets of parents who hardly get along despite the fact that their children are about to get married.

It was originally scheduled to open last October but due to recent tragic events, the playdate has been moved to November 11, 2009. This day also happens to be the birthday of Ai-Ai.

This movie marks the return of Joseph "Erap" Estrada to filmmaking after twenty years. His last movie was Sa Kuko ng Agila, which was released in 1989.

POLITICAL MOVE? Is Erap’s appearance in this movie related to his political plans in the future? It will be recalled that Erap recently announced that he plans to run for President in the upcoming 2010 elections.

According to Star Cinema & TV Synergy Specialist Mico del Rosario, they did not tackle Erap’s political plans when they were discussing the movie. "Last year pa ito napag-usapan," revealed Mico during the press briefing held at the ABS-CBN compound last Monday, October 26. "Wala naman siyang sinabi about political plans. He wanted to do a movie, he wanted to experience na gumawa uli ng movie."

To date, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is still waiting for the final decision of the Supreme Court to define what constitutes premature campaigning.

ABS-CBN stars Toni Gonzaga and Ai-Ai were impressed by President Erap’s dedication to his craft because he would show up early on the set, already dressed for the part and ready for his scenes.

With regards to her much-talked about kissing scene with the former President, Ai-Ai had this to say: "It’s a big honor for me to star in a movie with Erap. Yung kissing scene namin ay malaking bonus para sa akin."

Not to be missed is the spoof that Sam and Ai-Ai did, which was inspired by the dramatic scene between John Lloyd Cruz and Vilma Santos in the movie In My Life. Sam raises his voice at Ai-Ai with his trademark American twang and sprays Ai-Ai with saliva in the process.

This movie is also Toni and Sam’s follow up project to their 2008 romantic comedy My Big Love.

Ang Tanging Pamilya also stars Candy Pangilinan, K Brosas, Janus del Prado, Thou Reyes, AJ Perez, Igiboy Flores, Carl Camo, Miguelito de Guzman, K Brosas, and Carla Humphries.

SYNOPSIS. Ang Tanging Pamilya is the story of two pairs of lovers, portrayed by Joseph Estrada and Ai-Ai delas Alas, as well as Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby.

After a two-year long distance relationship, Charlie (Toni) gets the surprise of her life when her U.S.-based boyfriend Prince (Sam) arrives in the country to propose to her. This makes her mother Sunshine (Ai-Ai) very excited since she’s also looking forward to her own church wedding, a promise made to her by her husband Dindo (Erap) for their 25th wedding anniversary. But Dindo vehemently opposes the two weddings.

Aside from encountering problems with the strict dad, the wedding preparations are not going smoothly because of the arrival of Marlene (Mommy Dionisia), the mother of Prince.

How will the two families reconcile their differences? Will two weddings take place or none at all? Find out when Ang Tanging Pamilya opens in cinemas on November 11, 2009.

I LOVE YOU, GOODBYE. Mico of Star Cinema also revealed that they are almost done with their Metro Manila Film Fest entry I Love You, Goodbye. This romantic drama stars Gabby Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban and Derek Ramsay in a love triangle that aims to show that love knows no boundaries.

Directed by Laurice Guillen, this film is about Adrian (Gabby) and his relationship with Liezl (Angelica). However, Liezl is still confused because her past lover Gary (Derek Ramsay) comes back to win her back. Complicating matters even further is the fact that Adrian’s daughter (played by Kim Chiu) is also attracted to Gary.

Other upcoming movies are projects starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson as well as the post-Valentine offering of Star Cinema starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo titled Miss You Like Crazy. (CLICK HERE to learn more about the upcoming film of JLC-Bea)
