Lovi Poe's character experiences abuse at the hands of her father (portrayed by Emilio Garcia) in the indie film Sagrada Familia.

Singer and actress Lovi Poe recently completed her most challenging role to date. She portrays the role of Kat Asero, the abused and battered daughter in Joel Lamangan's forthcoming drama, Sagrada Familia.

Written by Raquel Villavicencio, based on a story conceived by Direk Joel himself, Sagrada Familia tells of a family that falls apart when the mother leaves for abroad and, as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), strives for their financial stability. Direk Joel is all praises for Lovi whom he considers a revelation in the film. "Lovi is an intelligent actress, and I'm glad that I gambled on her," says Lamangan. "After the film, she'll be on a different level."

Lovi admits that Sagrada Familia has been her most difficult project so far. She says, "It was very challenging, and at first, I did not want to do the role because I was afraid for my image but I realized that as an actress and performer, I have to grow and mature."

Prior to Sagrada Familia, Lovi starred in Walang Hanggang Paalam under directors Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos. The movie also tackled a mature theme, particularly incest.

Urian awardee Emilio Garcia is cast as Johnny, the abusive father who feels abandoned by his wife. Snooky Serna makes a comeback via her lead performance as Merle, the helpless mother. Ms. Gloria Diaz gives a remarkable portrayal of a consenting grandmother in this highly-charged drama. Felix Roco plays Lovi's love interest. Completing the cast are Rico Barrera, Jim Pebanco and Robert Arevalo as Johnny's father.

Sagrada Familia will hold special screenings this December. The film is the initial venture of Legadas Entertainment Production, owned by the Lerits.
