Three kid-friendly Spanish films to be screened on Dia Del Libro

When Furi, a friendly mole, wants to tell his friend Linda that he loves her, he finds that she has disappeared along witha whole colony of moles! The forest's inhabitants then join forces to save their endangered friends in the animated film El bosque animado (The Magic Forest).

Although not celebrated in the Philippines, International Book Day is an important event in several European countries. Instituto Cervantes aims to establish the date as a tradition in Manila's cultural calendar.

The International Day of the Book is an annual event organized every April 23 to promote reading. In celebration of the International Book Day, Instituto Cervantes will organize an Open House this Saturday, April 21, with many cultural events like jazz shows, concerts, dance performances, film showings, Spanish wine & cheese tasting, free salsa & Latin dance classes, photo and poetry contests, etc.

The day long Book Fair in Instituto Cervantes will offer more than 4,000 brand new books at token prices. The market will also include a sale of books by popular Filipino publishing firms and leading bookstores at 20% off.

As is traditional during the Day of the Book in Spain, a rose will be given (until supplies last) to every book buyer. In addition, the first 200 hundred buyers will receive a free copy of the novel Don Quijote de la Mancha.

Guided tours of the new Instituto Cervantes building will be organized at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Visitors will also get the opportunity to attend a free Spanish class for beginners. A 20% discount awaits new students who enroll on this day (Only valid for certain schedules and with full payment).

SPANISH FILMS. There will also be special movie screenings with the theme "Great Books on the Screen." Schedule is as follows:

2 pm > La colmena Directed by Mario Camus (114 min.) 1982.

6 pm > El método Directed by Marcelo Pyñeiro (105 min.) 2005. Only for adults.

Kids will also have the chance to enjoy 3 Spanish movies for children:

11 am > Don Quijote, 1

1:30 pm > Don Quijote, 2

4:30 pm > El bosque animado (The Magic Forest)

To end the day, Instituto Cervantes will hold the Día del Libro party with a Latin band, Spanish food... and lots of FUN!
