Kapamilya star Diether Ocampo has something to say on Eugene Domingo's claim that she is the "pambansang mananamantala"—a title she playfully bestowed on herself after kissing several screen hunks in past projects.
"Hindi naman," Diether said at the press conference of Mamarazzi held last August 3 at the Imperial Palace Suites on Tomas Morato in Quezon City.
Kaya nga ako nagpaubaya, e," continued Diet (Diether's showbiz nickname).
The incident Diet was talking about was his torrid kissing scene with Eugene in one of the sequences. Co-star John "Sweet" Lapus dubbed the lip-lock action as "kissab," a combination of kiss and "ngasab" (loud smacking of lips).
But that's how it is working with Eugene. Kailangan lagi kang prepared kasi hindi mo alam kung ano 'yong puwede niyang gawin kasi napaka-spontaneous lahat and siya 'yong magdadala, so kailangan magpaubaya ka lang.
Eugene's passion for her craft is contagious, according to Diether, and one has to work doubly hard to keep in step with the box-office comedienne.
"Very supportive and ang dami kong natutunan sa kanya," he added with sincere admiration.
ALL-OUT FILM. The "kissab" scene between Eugene and Diether is just one of the many comic highlights of Regal Entertainment's 50th anniversary offering to Filipino moviegoers.
Comedian-host and Mamarazzi co-star John "Sweet" Lapus expressed pride for his latest project and for the fact that multi-awarded director Joel Lamangan was on top of production from start to finish.
Joel is more identified as a drama director and some of his past projects include Hiram na Mukha (1992), Ngayon at Kailanman (1992), Ikaw (1993), Kadenang Bulaklak (1994), Anghel na Walang Langit (1994), Kapantay ay Langit (1994), Silakbo (1995), The Flor Contemplation Story (1995), Deathrow (2000), Mano Po (2002), Ang Huling Birhen sa Lupa (2003), Aishte Imasu 1941 (2004), and Mano Po 6: A Mother's Love (2009). He is also known for the dramatic indie films Dukot (2009) and Sigwa (2010), both of which have been invited to be screened in international film festivals.
As for Eugene, Sweet had nothing but good words for the 39-year-old comedy actress: "Tinodo niya na rito.
Joining Diether, John and Eugene in the film are Carla Abellana, Andi Eigenmann, JC Tiuseco, Carl Guevarra, AJ Perez, and Xian Lim.
Mamarazzi opens in theaters nationwide on August 25, 2010.
