Enchong Dee reveals similarities with his Filipino-Chinese character in I Do

"Love is like isang pelikula na kahit katulad n’yo na ilang beses ng pinapanood, papanoorin at papanoorin n’yo pa rin kasi mahal n’yo ang pinapanood n’yo," Enchong Dee said to his fans when he was asked to define what love is for him.

Erich Gonzales wasn’t able to attend the special screening of the Star Cinema movie I Do last Thursday night, September 30, at Cinema 9 of the Gateway Mall in Cubao. The event was organized by fans of Erich and her love-team partner Enchong Dee.

Enchong was more than happy to cover for Erich during the screening.

The varsity swimmer turned actor recalled, "I can remember exactly last year na dito din nag-premiere yung Paano Ko Sasabihin. Tapos puno din yung sinehan. It’s nice to be back again at makita dito yung mga fans. Sana yung results ng Paano Ko Sasabihin kasing ganda ng results ng I Do."

Paano Ko Sasabihin was the first indie film of Enchong and Erich that was an original entry in the 2009 Cinema One Originals digital film festival.

Co-star Melai Cantiveros dropped by at the special screening after being allowed to leave the taping of her TV show, Banana Split.

LIKE HIS CHARACTER. In the movie I Do, Enchong plays a Chinese-Filipino who falls in love with a Filipino girl and their love is unexpectedly blessed with a child. Throughout the movie, Lance (Enchong) and Yumi (Erich) go through challenges that test their love for each other. One of these tests is that Lance has to follow Chinese traditions.

Enchong sees similarities with his character.

When asked whether he believes love happens by choice or by destiny, Enchong replied, "Naniniwala ako sa choice talaga.

Enchong gave advice to teenagers who may want to engage in pre-marital sex.

"Sisiguraduhin niyo na...Bago niyo gawin iyon, siguraduhin niyo na nag-isip kayo once or twice, three times.

MEMORIES AND HOPES. One of Enchong’s memorable experiences while shooting the movie was his accidentally falling from a tree.

He added, "Siyempre, yung monologue ko.

Enchong also revealed that he did not have a hard time shifting from heavy drama to comedy-light drama for this project.

He said, "Memorable naman lahat. Magaan lahat kasi masaya.

For a future movie project, Enchong hopes to do a romantic comedy but with a twist.

Fingers crossed, next year, e, sama-sama ulit tayo," he declared, eliciting cheers from his fans.
