British actress Rachel Weisz is seen buying medicine from a drugstore. Suddenly, she is chased by several policemen, prompting her to run all the way down a narrow street in San Andres, Manila.
This is just one of the scenes shot in the Philippines for the spy-thriller The Bourne Legacy.
Jeremy Renner arrived in the Philippines to portray Aaron Cross, the lead actor of the fourth installment of the Bourne franchise. Since his arrival, several eyewitnesses have reported seeing the Oscar nominated-actor in Boracay and Resorts World Manila. Renner recently acted opposite Tom Cruise for the action flick Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
Security was tight around the San Andres-Leveriza area as barangay tanod and uniformed policemen maintained order and tried to prevent bystanders from taking photos of the stars. The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had earlier created a 120-strong Task Force Bourne to control the crowd and traffic rerouting for the 45-day shoot in the Philippines.
According to an article published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer, two other cities were considered as the location of The Bourne Legacy: Jakarta in Indonesia and Ho Chin Minh in Vietnam.
Another PDI article also revealed that Renner will jump from a three-story building to a residential house.
In a previous interview, Film Development Council of the Philippines Chairman Briccio Santos said, "Manila will be filmed as Manila. So it's a good advertisement for the country." He also revealed that the scenes shot here in Manila will be included in the "climax" or the last 20 to 25 minutes of The Bourne Legacy.
The cast and crew will shot in San Andres until January 15, 2012. On January 14, they will be at San Andres corner Quirino and Taft Avenues; January 15 on Leveriza St.; January 18-19, at J. Bocobo St. corner Remedios Circle; January 25 on Riverside Road, Real and Sta. Lucia streets in Intramuros. By February 17-18, scenes will be shot at Jones Bridge and from February 8-15, they will be at Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Sta. Mesa.
