Rico Blanco's protege sings the latest Close-up jingle

Never the Strangers performed the song "Moving Closer," which is used the latest jingle of a toothpaste brand.

“Inch by inch we're moving closer /Feels like a fairytale ending /Take my heart this is the moment /I'm moving closer to you” sings Ace Libre, lead vocalist and keyboardist of the new band, Never the Strangers. Titled “Moving Closer,” this song is the latest Close-up jingle and the second single from the band’s debut album.

“Moving Closer” was recently heard at the Close-up Pyromusical last March 17, 2012 as the brand’s latest jingle. “When I wrote ‘Moving Closer’ I imagined a scene where a guy and girl were falling into each other--everything in slow motion. I have this thing for scenes like that--there’s that obvious element of romance, drama and the idea of ‘the moment,’” recalls Ace, who wrote the song in less than 24 hours.

Never the Strangers, formerly known as Leonecastis, is composed of Ateneans: Ace Libre (lead vocals and keyboards), PJ LaViña (drums and percussion), Francis Victa (bassist) and JP del Mundo (guitars). Rico Blanco discovered them through the Myspace page of Leonecast and their music and talent caught his attention.

Never the Strangers’ self-titled debut album is available in record stores nationwide.
