Zia Quizon recalls that her mom, Zsa Zsa Padilla, became teary eyed upon hearing her single "Ako Na Lang"

“Ah… I don’t know, I guess wala talaga akong way to describe it. I think people just appreciate it lang talaga. Kasi yung music, ini-involve ko talaga ang sarili ko when the album is being made and things like that.

“So I guess, what the people are hearing ay yung talagang sound ko, na kahit sabihing parang ibang genre, I like making it my own and in my own way and singing it that way. So, I think it’s just parang… the way I tackle songs that people enjoy maybe…”

“Nang first time kong narinig iyong song, initially I liked it na kaagad. It wasn’t the way you hear it now talaga kasi very rough copy pa iyon, but even my mom talagang, muntik na raw siyang maiyak o umiyak nga talaga siya or na teary eyed… kasi she knew na it was really made for me, parang perfect for me daw,” masayang wika niya.

“My next album might sound a bit different, but I want people just to understand na bilang isang musician, nag-e-evolve rin kami. Mayroon din kaming nag-iibang… the way we see the world, as we grow, ganoon.

“More originals ang next album, I want also to combine OPM originals,” paliwanag ni Zia dahil paraan daw niya ito upang makatulong sa OPM.

Sinabi rin niyang may pressure para sa follow-up album niya dahil kailangang makapantay man lang ito sa kanyang unang album na naging big hit talaga.

“There’s pressure, that’s why I told din my record label na ayaw kong apurahin iyong album. I don’t want to sacrifice the quality rin. Kasi everyone was kinda looking forward to what the new album would sound like, kaya gusto ko talagang lagyan ito ng a part of me at gusto ko talagang pagandahin nang husto.”

Kasi, even when I was young and I was going through a hard time, alam mo na, adolescence, you know, I always had music even when I didn’t feel like I can trust anyone or a friend. You know, had a very individualistic kind of childhood…

“So, I always had music and I know how important it is to somebody. Kahit one person lang, it can change their lives.

“I can always count on music, so hindi ko siya basta-basta napapalitan iyong how I feel about it.

“Well, I guess, because when nagka-cancer scare yung Mom ko and that was also the time when my Dad had just passed away…

“So, madaming in and out of the hospital and as their child or as a bystander or somebody to help lang and give support, but then slowly I start to realized na parang, ‘E, paano na ba talaga iyong health ko and, of course, it made me think of things like that and my future… and is this what I wanna really teach my kids?’ Iyong mga ganoon…

“So, I decided talaga to start educating myself kung paano talaga kumain ng mas healthy,” nakangiting paliwanag pa niya.

“I’m more on gulay and fish, tsaka yung mga fruits and I started doing mga exercise na rin. At least twice a week, three times a week, things like that,” aniya pa.
