Indie Filipino record label and talent management firm 12 Stone Records aims to boost the current status of Original Pilipino Music in the country.

Placing emphasis on “Original” and “Pilipino,” 12 Stone Records kicks off their campaign to reinforce the OPM scene through their upcoming 12 Stone Music Festival that will kick off in June. This will feature performances from 12 Stone in-house artists and some of Philippines’ most influencial acts inluding Barbie Almalbis, Kitchie Nadal and Rocksteddy.

In an interview with (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last May 20 at URBN Bar and Kitchen in Bonifacio Global City, 12 Stone Records founder Mr. Tommy Tanchangco proudly pointed out that they are the “first” record and management company to come up with this kind of event.

“Una nga talaga isa lang, kaso along the way biglang, ‘gawin na nating tatlo.’

“Para kasing papunta na siya sa tour, so at least, tatlo na agad siya, baka maging music festival tour siya, e, so ito tatlo agad.

Jumpstarting the event will be the grand album launch that will take place on June 1 (7 pm) at the Eastwood Central Plaza. This will be hosted by half-Filipina, half-British model and brand ambassador Margo Midwinter. The event will also feature 12 Stone Inc.’s established in-house artists and new breed of artists such as Save Me Hollywood, Ruth Legaspi and Absolute Play.

The 12 Stone Music Tour will take place from June to October in various Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. The tour will kick off at The Lucky Chinatown in Manila on June 7 (4pm) and at the Venice Piazza McKinley Hill on June 9 at 7 in the evening.

Tommy shared, “We’re [also] promoting an album and alam mo naman kapag nagpo-promote ka ng album, dire-diretso yan [to] mall tour or gigs [dapat], e.”

Former lead vocalist of Barbie’s Cradle and now a solo act, Barbie Almalbis, expressed her excitement for their upcoming music festival.

The award-winning singer-composer said, “We’ll be playing our songs from our different albums, as well as new songs, but I’m most excited to let them hear other new [artists] from 12 Stone, yun nga, yung Absolute Play and si Ruth [Legaspi].”

Meanwhile, band members of Save Me Hollywood are also thankful for the opportunities coming their way because aside from the music festival, the group is also set to release their debut album.

MYX VJ Search 2013 winner and now the lead vocalist of Save Me Hollywood Julz Savard revealed, “We’re really coming out in releasing the album, kasabay lang ‘to sa Music Festival.

“It’s really special for the band, we worked really hard, almost two years in the making yung album na ‘to.

“So for all of our fans, the followers that we have so far, a, we’re very excited, so yun.”

Aside from their music festival, Tommy also said that they will also launch a music-related website called 12 Stone Incorporated Music Alliance to introduce OPM to the “internet generation.”

“Magkakaroon siya ng Internet Radio, Newsletter, mga video clips, mga music news.

“So hindi lang siya magiging limited to 12 Stone artists, it will be open to any music related.”

“It’s actually 12 Stone Inc. Music Alliance, so yung mga bands like Chicosci or [other bands] we can also feature them in the website.”
