Will rising singer-songwriter Marion Aunor level up someday to her aunt, Nora Aunor?

"I'm really hoping na ma-create ko yung identity ko sa music industry, apart from her," says Marion Aunor about her famous aunt, Nora Aunor.

If You Ever Change Your Mind."

Nakapanayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at iba pang taga-media, ang upcoming singer-songwriter na si Marion Aunor at the launch of her self-titled debut album at the Live Vive Centrale A Venue Mall, Makati City.

Nakilala ito sa una niyang album, Waiting For My Rocket To Come (with its hit carrier single, "The Remedy [I Won't Worry]"), in 2002 at Mr. A-Z in 2005.

Si Sara Beth Bareilles, ng Eureka, California, ay 33-year-old American pop rock/piano rock singer-composer and pianist.

Taon 2007 nang sumikat nang husto si Sara Bareilles, with her hit single "Love Song" na nag-Number One sa Billboard POP 100 Chart.

DEBUT ALBUM.

"Medyo mahirap po yatang puro originals kaagad, so nag-add po kami ng 'Just Give Me Reason,' 'The First Time I Loved Forever,' and 'Don't Give Up On Us.'

"Then 'yung kay Vehnee (Saturno) and Tito Cayamanda, 'Someone's Always Saying Goodbye.'

"Meron pong isang bonus track, 'Magmamahal Sa 'Yo' [by Saturno, the only Tagalog song in the album].

"We hope iba't ibang type of audiences ang ma-capure.

"I don't want to sound better; gusto ko pong maka-penetrate sa music industry, pero gusto ko rin pong makatawid yung OPM (Original Pilipino Music).

"For example, yung P-Pop, na-appreciate natin, I hope ma-appreciate din ito ng ibang cultures.

"I hope I can contribute to that," Marion said.

I Don't Know (If I Should Stay Or I Should Go)," "Sex On Legs" (with Patricia Sanico) at "Take A Chance" (with Saturno).

NORMAL PERSON. "I'm just really happy na nangyayari itong lahat sa akin," Marion enthused.

"Sinasabi niya [mom Maribel], 'tulungan mo naman ako', but in the end, sabi niya, 'If music is really your passion, let's go for it!'

"For a while, naba-bother siya na... medyo stage mom...

"Not only my mom [a better singer], but also my grandmother ['Mamay' Belen Aunor], also my Titas [including Superstar Nora Aunor].

ALL ABOUT NORA AUNOR. Marion Aunor is Nora's niece. "Mamay" Belen Aunor and Nora's mom, the late Antonia Cabaltera Villamayor, a.k.a. "Mamay Tunying," are sisters.

Nora has been in showbiz for more than four decades, reaping one accomplishment after another to this day.

"Until now, nagkakaroon pa rin siya ng awards," banggit ni Marion, referring to Ate Guy's local and international acting achievements.

"While me, I'm just starting out. So, magkaibang-magkaiba ang level namin.

"Ako po nag-i-start pa lang."

Kailan sila huling nagkita at nagkausap ni Nora?

"Mga two years ago, in-introduce lang po kami," banggit ni Marion.

That was in August, 2011, when Nora returned to the country, after staying in the United States for eight years.

"Tapos, mga five years old pa lang ako, nagkita kami.

Nang matanong hinggil dito ay tinanong muna ni Marion ang ina: "Mom, have we talked about it?

Katwiran niya, "I have such a boring life. I'm always at home... watching movies and everything. Sama-sama kami sa bahay, with my sister, Ashley.

"Wala pa akong issues sa life. Ano lang po, like, maybe, my mom mentioned about it, na I should be ready, 'wag kang ganyan...' and that 'yung mga criticisms, I shouldn't take them, negatively."

COMPARISON WITH ATE GUY.

"I think, yung pinaka-similarity lang namin is our love for music.

"Kasi yung music namin, magkaibang-magkaiba yung sound."

Marion, like any other newcomer, wants to carve her own niche in the music field.

"I'm really hoping na ma-create ko yung identity ko sa music industry, apart from her.

"Of course, right now, hindi ma-avoid ang questions about her.

"And I'm very, very proud of her [Nora]. She's our legend and icon.

"But, I hope, someday, I may also have a place in this industry."

ON BECOMING AN ACTRESS.

"Medyo mahirap po yata, kasi, like Tita Nora, she's not only known for singing, but also for acting.

'So, I mean, hindi po maiiwasang magkaroon ng comparison.

Marion cited an example kung bakit hindi pa siya handang seryosohin ang pag-arte, or build a career as an actress.

"'Yung sa music video na Falling, I have to get into character.

"Yung story po kasi nu'n, may namatay na boyfriend. I've never experienced that.

"So, maybe, after some workshops... [I could be ready to try acting]. I think that would be interesting.
