Singing has always been Nikki Gil’s first love.
It’s been four years since she last recorded an album and she feels that she’s ready to go back to the music scene with a vengeance.
“Siguro naman over the last few years may growth na naganap, not only technically but also emotionally,” she began during her contract signing with Universal Records last Thursday, March 6.
Asked why it took this long for her to start working on her fourth album, Nikki admitted that it was mostly because she chose to focus on her acting career.
“Hindi kinaya ng schedule at ng katawan,” she remarked with a laugh.
Nikki further shared that the theme of her upcoming album will be all about “celebration of love and music.”
She added, “The album is about love, definitely. Hindi siya magiging bitter na album.”
Nikki happens to be dating a non-showbiz guy, who keeps her inspired nowadays.
Although Universal Records is still working on the details for Nikki’s album, the 29-year-old singer said that it’s probably going to be a mix of originals, covers, and a few of her own compositions.
Given a chance, she’d also like to do a collaboration with her favorite music icons, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera.
“Isang malaking karangalan kung mapaunlakan ako ng isang Gary Valenciano at isang Martin Nievera.
“Not just because of what they’ve contributed, but who they are as performers.”
Although her album is slated to be released sometime in August, Nikki said that she'll be taking voice lessons as part of her preparation for the project.
"There's always room for improvement. You can never be the best at whatever it is that you’re facing right now.
"Pwede mo pang i-push yun. Definitely pinaghahandaan ko," she finally stated.
