Nagbabalik onstage ang mga ‘80s OPM music icons via the show Into The ‘80s na magaganap sa Theatre at Solaire on May 18, 2019.

We have our own identities. We make the music and not the other way around.

Walang distinct sound. You can’t tell one singer from the other kasi halos pareho lang.

“What I miss is the energy of performing. Maraming singers today, they stick to one type of music na ginagawa na ng ibang nauna sa kanila. Where is that energy and the creative nature na dapat nanggagaling sa isang performer?”

Si Gino Padilla naman ay nakilala dahil sa Pepsi TV commercial na ginawa niya with Tina Turner in 1986. Naging popular rin ang kanyang hits na “Closer You and I,” “Let The Love Begin,” and “I Believe In You.”

Ayon naman kay Gino, meron pa rin daw magagaling na singers ngayon who even write their own songs.

“It’s a God-given talent that you have to nurture and let it grow. Singers nowadays, they have their own sound and they make their own music. Yun nga lang, there are not too many of them.

“Some, unfortunately, nire-revive na lang ang mga old songs to make it as their own. Iniiba lang nila ang paraan ng pag-interpret.

“Parang sumasali lang sila sa isang singing contest on TV.”

Si Raymond Lauchengco ay nakilala as “the boy next door” singer with hits such as “I Need You Back,” “Farewell,” “Shadow of Time,” and “Saan Darating Ang Umaga?”

“The girl is phenomenal. She’s a really good singer with an awesome voice. She’s a musical artist in the making with the way she performs.

“It’s just too bad that they don’t sell CDs [compact discs] anymore. Lahat digital downloads na. With her voice, she can sell lots of records.”

Makakasama nila ang U.S.-based singer na si Jam Morales na nakilala during the ‘80s for being a singing sweetheart after winning the 1984 Metro Pop Music Festival with “A Smile In Your Heart.”

Inamin ni Jam that she was diagnosed with lupus last year at muntik na niya itong ikamatay.

“I was praying so hard for God to heal me. I love performing and I am not about to give that up because of this autoimmune disease.

“Thank God that when they offered me this show, medyo maayos na ang lahat. Though I am taking medication, it has not stopped me from performing.

“I’ve been living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for almost 30 years and I haven’t stopped singing. Parati akong may show sa U.S. and other parts of the world. I always look forward into performing sa bansa natin. It’s a grand reunion for everybody.”

The mastermind and producer of Into The ‘80s is Lou Bonnevie na sumikat noong 1984 with her punk rock image at hit songs na “I’m Every Girl” at “Rockin’ The Beat.”

“Naisip namin ang concept na ito because yung naging show nila dito sa Solaire about the ‘90s was so successful. So bakit hindi tayo gumawa ng shows with the ‘80s singers?

“I personally made calls kina Jam, Raymond, Gino, and Jett. Nakasama ko sila in so many shows during our era. Natuwa naman ako when they said na available sila and they would love to perform again just like old times.”

Bukod sa kanilang hit songs, they will also sing ballads and dance hits of the ‘80s kaya isa itong malaking party.

You Take” by The Police; at movie themes from Xanadu, Ghostbusters, and Footloose. Matutuwa rin ang audience sa pag-perform nila ng ’80s dance tunes “Just Got Lucky” by Jo Boxers, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston, “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel, at “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang.

Makakasama pa nila ang Filipinas Dancers and the Session Band at may surprise guest performers pa.
