It’s been a year since South Korean band CNBLUE came to the Philippines for their Blue Moon: the CNBLUE World tour at the SMART Araneta Coliseum last June 2013.
Thousands of Filipino BOICEs gathered to see Jung Yong Hwa (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Lee Jong Hyun (lead guitar, vocals), Lee Jung Shin (bass guitar, vocals) and Kang Min Hyuk (drums) perform their chart-topping hits.

This year, Pinoy BOICEs (fan club name) rejoiced as CNBLUE is set to return to the country for their Can’t Stop concert tour at the Araneta Coliseum this Friday, September 19.
We got to know more about the boys last year but here are some fun facts about CNBLUE:
CNBLUE debuted in Japan first before making a mark in South Korea.
In a report by Nate News, CNBLUE started humbly by performing on the streets and live clubs in Japan before scoring a record deal.
CNBLUE was formed in 2009 and debuted in Japan with an all-English album Now or Never in August followed by another extended play album titled Voice. The original members back then were Jung Yong Hwa (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Lee Jong Hyun (lead guitar, vocals), Kang Min Hyuk (drums), and Kwon Kwang-Jin (bass, rap). A month after their Japanese debut, Kwang-Jin decided to leave the group and he was replaced by Lee Jung Shin.
CNBLUE promised that they will return to the Philippines.
During their last concert, the band talked about their short experience in the country. Min Hyuk revealed that he likes lechon (roast pig) and that he was able to see the iconic Pinoy jeepney. At the end of the event, the band promised that they will be back to see their Filipino fans again and this year, they are fulfilling their promise.
Jung Yong Hwa celebrated his 24th birthday in the Philippines.
During their concert in Manila, Min Hyuk, Jung Shin, and Jong Hun prepared a surprise for Yong Hwa who was celebrating his 24th birthday. Min Hyuk took out a piece of paper and read the Tagalog sentences which Yong Hwa couldn’t understand.
Min Hyuk told the audience, “Wag n'yo sabihin ang pangalan. Wag n'yo sabihin ang pangalan, ha? [Do not say his name. Do not say his name, ok?]”
Jung Shin then, said, “Alam n'yo yung sinasabi namin!
"Kantahin natin siya! Kantahin natin siya!
"[You know what we are saying! Let's sing him a song! Let's sing him a song!]”
Lastly, Jong Hyun instructed concertgoers to sing “Happy Birthday!” and said, “Kantahin natin yun. Yung sabi kanina!
"Sabay sabay tayo lahat, a! Sabay sabay, a!
"[Let's sing it! What we were saying a while ago. All together, okay? All together!].”
Members of CNBLUE have appeared in TV projects.
Yong Hwa has starred in a number of South Korean drama series previously aired in the Philippines. These include He’s Beautiful and Heartstrings, together with actress Park Shin Hye. Min Hyuk also played a role in Heartstrings and recently portrayed the best friend of Shin Hye’s character in The Heirs with South Korean superstar Lee Min Ho. All the Korean dramas mentioned were aired at ABS-CBN.
Jong Hyun’s made his acting debut on A Gentleman’s Dignity. Jung Shin also starred in a few drama series including My Daughter Seo-Young. Both Korean dramas were aired on GMA Network.
CNBLUE’s Yong Hwa was in a fake marriage with Girls’ Generation’s Seo Hyun.
As love teams were also popular in South Korea, members of different idol groups and actors also starred in a reality show called We Got Married which will show how their life would be if they’re married. Yong Hwa and Seo Hyun’s love team was even dubbed as the “Sweet Potato Couple” because of the latter’s love for them. Yong Hwa and Seo Hyun filmed the reality show for over a year with 51 episodes.
