KZ Tandingan, Daniel Padilla honored at 2014 Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) Love Songs

KZ Tandingan interpreted "Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako," which won as Best Song during the Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) Love Songs 2014. Daniel Padilla's interpretation of "Simpleng Katulad Mo" enabled him to win two awards: MOR's Choice Award and ABS-CBN mobile fan favorite.

The song interpreted by KZ Tandingan emerged as the Best Song in the multimedia songwriting competition Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) Love Songs 2014.

Edwin Marollano's composition "Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako" was able to bag the grand prize of Himig Handog 2014.

The awards night was held earlier tonight, September 28, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Alex Gonzaga and Robi Domingo served as the hosts of the event.

A total of 15 original compositions were chosen from among 6,000 entries submitted as early as November last year.

A mix of veteran and amateur Filipino composers had their songs interpreted by top recording stars in the country.

Morissette Amon served as the interpreter for “Akin Ka Na Lang” by Francis Louis Salazar, Jessa Zaragoza for “Bumabalik ang Nagdaan” by Sarah Jane Gandia, Jovit Baldivino for “Dito” by Raizo Brent Chabeldin and Biv De Vera, Ebe Dancel with Abra for “Halik sa Hangin” by David Dimaguila, Angeline Quinto for “Hanggang Kailan” by Jose Joel Mendoza, Juris for "Hindi Wala" by Nica del Rosario, Jed Madela for “If You Don’t Want to Fall” by Jude Gitamondoc, Janella Salvador for “Mahal Kita Pero” by Melchora Mabilog, KZ for “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” by Edwin Marollano, Michael Pangilinan for “Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako” by Jovinor Tan, Marion Aunor featuring Rizza and Seed for “Pumapag-ibig” by Jungee Marcelo, Daniel Padilla for “Simpleng Tulad Mo” by Meljohn Magno, Bugoy Drilon for “Umiiyak ang Puso” by Rolando Azor, and Jugs and Teddy for “Walang Basagan ng Trip” by Eric De Leon.

Songwriter-finalist Hazel Faith dela Cruz was the interpreter of her composition, “Everything Takes Time.”

In one of the intermission numbers, Nikki Gil and The Company performed "Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa," last year's winner of Himig Handog.

At around 10 pm last night, the hashtag #DanielPadillaHimigHandogFinalsNight2014 landed on the No. 1 slot of trending topics on Twitter (Philippines). Other hashtags that were also talked about: DJP Deserves To Win On HHPOPLoveSong, Congrats DJ and KimXi Host HhPpop2014. The hashtag #HimigHandog2014FinalsNight eventually became the top trending topic last night.
