Kuh Ledesma, while not being Music & Magic's longest-staying member is surely one of its most famous members. In a recent presscon for Music & Magic's October 3 concert titled Trending Music & Magic, Kuh promised, "kailangan ang Music & Magic mas magaling pa ngayon kaysa nung dati, kasi we have been in the business for so long."
Kuh remarked that it didn't take much to convince her to do this concert. "When Sandra [Chavez, of Artist House] met with me, I didn't need much convincing. Kasi namimiss ko yun mga gwapo and magaganda na eto. It's always fun to do the Music & Magic songs, memoryado pa rin namin after all these years!"
While the members of Music & Magic did not want to reveal how many sets they would sing, Kuh let us know that, "hindi mahaba ang show pero it's substantial."
Vic del Rosario Jr. of Viva Live even came on board to co-produce this one-night-only concert at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). Kuh jests that he must believe they will sell well for him to put his name to Trending Music & Magic. Based on the short sampler the group sang for the presscon, it is clear they all still have "it."
Do they feel pressured to fill the house? "Ang tingin ko, ang manonood naman sa amin ay yung talaga mga fans namin, and they will bring their family and friends, and they are all very excited."
While many of the members of Music & Magic have chosen to pursue lives and careers abroad, Kuh Ledesma, arguably one of the Philippines' finest in the music industry, has cultivated her career here. And the Philippines has been really good to the pop diva.
She shares, "Ako naman ay masayang-masayang dito sa ating bayan. Napakabuti ng Panginoon sa akin that he brought me all these people in my life 35 years ago."
She says that Music & Magic "supported and began my career at the same time, they may not know it, I have always been grateful to each one of them, aside from being grateful, I will always remember mababait silang kaibigan, they were always there for me, siguro ako pa yun nagkulang kasi my career was rising very fast, binebless ako ng maraming projects."
"God opened doors for them in Singapore and Malaysia, and even now, God has been opening doors and providing for Music & Magic to continue their careers, kasi siyempre kung ‘yan ang gift natin galing sa Diyos, dapat di natin kakalimutan."
During the presscon, Butch Elizalde relates how long ago, Kuh was always looking out for them and someone they could rely on. Kuh interjects, "oo, isang member lang ng Music & Magic may kotse noon. Si Nonoy Mendoza lang ang may kotse, Beetle na luma, combi, kasya kami lahat noon! Siya tagasundo namin."
Butch tells how one night, "wala kaming pang-gas, so after rehearsals, kinatok namin yung bahay nila Kuh, mga ala-una sa umaga yun, we asked for money for gas, siyempre, sinesermonan kami noon, especially when we drink, pero binigyan niya pa rin kami ng pang-gas."
Kuh jokingly asks if she gave enough for a full tank. Kuh adds another anecdote of her own, on the special place Music & Magic has in her heart, "Nung bata ako, my father would always buy balut, isa-isa lang binibigay sa amin. Siyempre bitin na bitin ako. Nung dumami na pera ko kakakanta, tinanong ko sila, sino may gusto ng balut, kahit tig-lima!"
From the easy banter and the way the members of Music & Magic would fill in each other's sentences and joke around, it is clear that Kuh indeed has family and lifelong friends in this group. Trending Music & Magic is something surely worth heading out for on October 3, 2014 at the PICC Plenary Hall.
ON DENNIS ROLDAN. It will be recalled that Kuh’s co-star, Dennis Roldan, was recently sentenced to life imprisonment.

She shares that she was "so sad when that happened not because we were gonna lose him on the show but because he has become my friend and napakabait niyang tao. Naging pastor na siya, e! He is a changed person," Kuh remarks about her co-star Dennis, who portrayed her husband on the GMA-7 show My Destiny.
She recalls what she did for the family then, "I called the wife, they are very strong Christians, so I prayed with them. And I intend to visit him pag medyo stable na doon, di na masyado magulo, kasi he is supposed to be in isolation, di ba?"
Did they discuss his case a lot while Dennis was with them on the show? "I didn't really ask him a lot about it. Pero on the first day he explained kung ano nangyari."
She is hopeful that when all has settled down, she and their fellow My Destiny cast members can visit him, "siguro after, pwede bisitahin."
How is Dennis now? "I have not asked recently, pero I know that when you are a strong Christian, no matter where you are, you will be okay at may mga Kristianong hinihintay siya doon, winewelcome siya, 'yan ang sabi."
