Singers Jay-R, Karylle, and Kris Lawrence gave an early treat for people in love during their pre-Valentine's Day concert last February 13. The concert titled Souls in Love took place at the Teatrino, Promenade, Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan City.

The show was not just an ordinary concert where the performers sing chosen songs. In fact, the songs were carefully chosen to suit the plot of the concert.

Souls in Love began with a voice-over introducing a couple played by Kris Lawrence and Karylle. Then, Star in a Million Season 2 grand champion Kris Lawrence started with an R&B song titled "So Sick" by international artist Ne-Yo. Then, with two girls dancing on his side, Kris began singing "Beautiful Girls" of Sean Kingston.

Karylle then joined Kris on stage and sang her mother's original song "Mambobola" to describe her boyfriend in the story. Kris, on the other hand, answered her with Randy Santiago's song titled "Babaero." The two singers then did a duet with the Rihanna and Ne-yo song, "Hate That I Love You."

After this scene, Karylle was left alone on stage. This gave her a moment to show the audience her real singing prowess. Karylle did a very good rendition of the songs "Sana'y Maghintay ang Walang Hanggan," which was originally sung by Sharon Cuneta, and Barbara's Streisand's "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." These songs illustrated how Karylle and Kris Lawrence slowly drifted apart from each other.

Coming to the rescue was Jay-R, the best friend of Kris Lawrence. Jay-R tried to comfort the aching heart of Karylle. And then he proposed his love for her by singing "Let Me Love You" of R&B singer Mario, "One Hundred Ways" of James Ingram, Luther Vandross's "Always and Forever," and Joe's "No One Else Comes Close."

The main stars of the concert then acted sweetly towards each other when they sang a mellow song titled, "Tattooed On My Mind," which was originally sung by the Norweigian pop band, D'Sound.

Just like in the movies, the two guys confronted each other by singing a Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney original duet called "The Girl is Mine."

Later on, Kris finally gave up on Karylle and sang another Jackson song, "She's Out of My Life," while holding a ring on his left hand. Meanwhile, Karylle, who was wearing a long red dress, accepted Jay-R's love by singing a Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait a While."

As in romantic films, Souls in Love had the usual "happily ever after" moment. Jay-R and Karylle danced together while singing Pussycat Doll's "Stickwitu" and the duet version of "Umbrella" by Rihanna and Jay-Z.

CELEBRITY GUESTS. The show was attended by Karylle's boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes. He described his sweetheart as, "Sobrang confident, sobrang galing. Feel na feel niya ang confidence at saka walang sablay!"

Karylle's parents, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari, were also there to show their love for their daughter. Meanwhile, the manager of Jay-R and Kris Lawrence, Arnold Vegafria, was busy entertaining the special audience of the show. Director Ruel Bayani and German "Kuya Germs" Moreno also watched the event.

Also spotted in the pre-Valentine's day concert were soon-to-be-married couple Cheska Garcia and Doug Kramer, Pops Fernandez sans boyfriend Jomari Yllana, and Diana Zubiri who came with a non-showbiz guy.
