Renowned South Korean singer Park YoungTak is coming to Manila.
The multi-talented artist, singer, actor, and TV personality will make his first Manila appearance on February 6 and 7, 2023, for a series of concerts organized by Live Nation Philippines.
Venue and ticketing details of his upcoming shows in Manila are yet to be announced.
Young Tak is best known as a trot singer in South Korea.
Trot is a genre in South Korean music popular among the older generations.
According to linguasia.com, songs in this genre are characterized by having "upbeat tempo, repetitive rhythm, and vocal inflections."
Young Tak, however, debuted as a ballad singer in 2007 with his album Young Tak Disid. He ventured into trot music in 2016 with the album Nuna You're Perfect.
Four years later in 2020, he placed second in the TV Chosun's audition show Mr. Trot besting over 17,000 participants.
After his win, Young Tak released his single "Jjiniya" which reached 4.5 million views on YouTube.
In the same year, he won the Hot Trend Award and Best Songwriter Award at the 2020 Melon Music Awards.
His hit single was also nominated as Best Trot Song of 2022.
Young Tak also received the Newcomer CF Star Award at the 2020 MTN Broadcast Advertising Festival and the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Trot Awards.
An actor as well, Young Tak had cameo appearances in several K-drama series that included Kkondae Intern (2020), Cameo Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny (2020), and Behind Every Star (2022).
He has been recently cast as a supporting character in the upcoming series Strong Woman Gang Nam-soon.
Young Tak's latest album MMM, which was released in 2022, marked his first full record since he started his singing career in 2005.
