Tippy Dos Santos looks forward to meeting Backstreet Boys members; slated to portray a psycho in international movie

Tippy Dos Santos wants to become a pediatrician someday. In 2016, the singer-actress is expected to graduate from the University of the Philippines Diliman with a course in Family Life and Child Development.

Tippy Dos Santos considers it an honor to be chosen as the front act for the Backstreet Boys' Philippine concert.

The singer-actress-TV host will kick off the boy band's concert that will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena on May 6, 2015.

It feels surreal for Tippy since she was a fan of the ‘90s boyband when she was a little girl.

"Excited ako kasi big fan ako ng Backstreet Boys noong bata ako.

“I know all their songs. I sing and dance to their songs kapag pine-play siya sa TV or radio.

“It’s too good to be true that I will be front acting for their concert. And I will get to meet them personally.

“Kahit na may edad na sila, ang guwapo pa rin ni Nick Carter!” said the 20-year-old performer with a laugh.

Tippy recently signed a recording contract with Universal Records last April 27 at the Universal Tower in Quezon City.

She will soon launch her very first studio album.

Present at her signing were Kathleen Go (UR general manager); Peter Chan (UR operations manager); Ito Rapadas (album producer) and Tippy’s manager, Carlo Orosa.

The thespian is known for representing the Philippines in the 2008 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA). She was introduced in the musical film I Do Bidoo Bidoo in 2012.

In February 2015, the Star Magic talent was chosen as the opening act of American band Boyce Avenue.

Tippy is happy and excited to release her debut album.

“I am very much happy that finally I am with Universal Records. This is really a dream come true.

“I already recorded three songs for the album and they are all OPM.

“We wanted to come out with an all-original album. It is our way to support our local music industry.”

Many are wondering how the recording company will be able to sell the image of Tippy knowing that her background and looks are considered “sosyal.”

“We had a meeting on how the company will market me.

“Kasi nga raw tisay ako tapos galing sa theatre. So akala nila sosyal. Pero hindi po ako sosyal.

“The only way to market me sa masa is for me to show my personality.

“Hindi po porke’t tisay at may theatre background ay hindi na makaka-relate ang mga tao sa akin.

“Music is for everyone. Kung maganda po ang kanta mo, papatok at papatok siya.”

Can a vocally-trained singer like Tippy have a chance to compete with non-singers who are currently the bestsellers in the music market today?

“It all depends on whose market we are gearing at.

“I am aware that the albums that are big sellers today in the market are being supported by their fans.

“That’s why we’re coming up with songs na babagay sa gusto naming market. We’re listening to local and foreign songs that are favourites of many listeners.

“We want to find out the right material para magawa namin for the album.

“Na-notice namin na the songs na gusto ng masa ay yung may hugot talaga.”

Tippy is currently busy with her hosting job with MYX. She was last seen in the ABS-CBN teleserye Galema and in the hit movie Crazy Beautiful You.

She just finished filming an international movie with filmmaker Yam Laranas titled Abomination. She plays the psycho in a psychological thriller that will be released in the U.S.

“I have no teleserye for now because I am very busy with school."

Tippy is about to finish her course from the University of the Philippines.

“I will be graduating next year from U.P. Diliman with a course in B.S. Family Life and Child Development.

“I wanted to take up pre-med course because I want to be a pediatrician. I love taking care of kids.

“Even if I’m busy with my showbiz career, I will still pursue my dream of being a doctor.”
