Imagine the Juan de la Cruz band rocking out "Balong Malalim" and "Himig Natin" with violins and cellos, the Jerks jamming with trumpets and flutes, or the Dawn performing their signature songs accompanied by a clarinet solo.
All of these will be realized from May 2-4 when Filipino bands perform every night at 8 pm with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra. Fiesta ng Musikang Filipino: An OPM Chronicle will take place at the mecca of performing arts, the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
This three-day fiesta is presented by Creative Dynamic Marketing, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, PAGCOR and PCSO. The event promises to be a treat for OPM fans as it brings together bands in an effort to fuse musical styles, all in celebration of original Filipino music.
Fiesta ng Musikang Filipino shall be a fusion of Pinoy music, breaking boundaries of time and genre. The night begins with a soulful performance from Lucia Micarelli, an American alternative solo violinist together with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra. Enjoy performances of Pinoy rock music as well as originals from The Dawn, Up Dharma Down, Sinosikat, Sugarfree, The Drip, and the Radioactive Sago Project. Capping off the grand musical event will be a performance of the Juan De La Cruz band together with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.
Proceeds of the event will benefit the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines' (CBCP) John Mary Vianney Gallilee Development and Retreat Center for Priests in Tagaytay City.
Tickets are available at Ticketworld, Music One and selected Odyssey outlets.
