Los Angeles-based Filipino-American a capella group The Filharmonic are heading back to the Philippines for “an aca-epic” homecoming concert.
The Filharmonic will lead the tree lighting ceremony at the Main Mall Atrium of SM Mall of Asia on November 7 (Saturday).
They will hold an open-air concert at the venue after the tree lighting.
Currently The Filharmonic is composed of six members: vocalists VJ Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, and Barry Fortgang, vocal bass Jules Cruz, and beat boxer Niko Del Rey. The six-member group rose to fame after placing 4th on the fourth season of The Sing-Off.
After the show, the band has been creating covers and mash-ups of top songs uploaded on their official Youtube account. The group has also shared the stage with Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas, and Pentatonix.
The Fil-Am, all-male a cappella group had a special participation in the blockbuster film Pitch Perfect 2 along with lead stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Hailee Steinfeld.
In the movie, The Filharmonic was seen as Team Philippines, one of the international singing groups that will compete with the Barden Bellas in the world championships.
Their official website lists down the provinces of the member's parents: VJ Rosales (Bataan and Cavite), Joe Caigoy (Iloilo and Manila), Trace Gaynor (Ilocos Norte), Barry Fortgang (Southern Leyte), Jules Cruz (Manila), and Niko Del Rey (Manila and Cavite).
