After thirteen years of being away from the limelight, GabbyConcepcion is thinking not only of making it big as an actor but as a singer aswell. At 45 years old, Gabby still looks forward to challenging himself indifferent fields.
Reports say that the comebacking actor will record his firstalbum with Warner Music Philippines, but he downplayed these by saying thatthere were no official plans yet. "Wala pang official na nanggagaling sakanila. Meron kaming pinaplano. Mangyayari yun. So, maski ako, I'mfinding new things about myself," says Gabby during his solo press conferenceyesterday, July 3, at Roberto Antonio's Flower Shop in Quezon City.
Gabby is still amazed by the immense support that he has received fromFilipinos ever since he came back to the country.
Will he do a duet with his daughter KC Concepcion in thisalbum? "Sana. Hindi lang si KC. Marami akong pinangarap na makasama andmaraming singer na magagaling," he says. KC has recently come out with her ownalbum titled a.k.a. Cassandra, which is being distributed by WarnerMusic.
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Gabby if he hastaken up voice lessons in preparation of this possible album but he recommendeda different strategy of preparing his vocal chords.
He even made fun of his own voice by saying, "Ako, para saakin, [meron ako ng] tinatawag nilang ‘bathroom voice,' pang banyo lang," saidGabby, eliciting chuckles from the crowd.
Is it true that he was offered millions to makethis album? "Hindi naman," he quickly answers. "Siyempre, kahit anong negosyo, merong equivalent. Kaya iniisip ko, sige na nga, subukannga natin, baka maka-tsamba," he says in a hopeful tone.
Gabby will soon be seen in the newest teleserye of ABS-CBN titled Iisa PaLamang, where he is paired with Claudine Barretto. Before the interviewended, he even gamely sang a line from his show's theme song, "Iisa pa lamangang minahal ko ng ganito." From what he heard, Gabby certainly has somethingmore than just a "bathroom voice."
