Alden Richards described as "great guy, very humble, very mild-mannered" by “God Gave Me You” singer

Bryan White says about Alden Richards: "I think he has a great voice."

Bryan White, the singer behind “God Gave Me You,” finally had the chance to meet Alden Richards yesterday, November 28.

The Grammy Award-winning American country music artist had a guest appearance on Eat Bulaga wherein he played the guitar while performing his signature song.

His song “God Gave Me You,” is dubbed as AlDub’s “national anthem” since it is often used in key moments of the Kalyeserye segment of Eat Bulaga.

In the past, White has expressed his gratitude to AlDub, the love team of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (played by Maine Mendoza), for popularizing his song through their Dubsmashes.

White is currently in the Philippines to hold a concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum this Tuesday, December 1.

A few hours after his guest appearance on GMA-7’s noontime show, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other select members of the media had the chance to interview White during a roundtable interview at the Marco Polo Hotel.

What was White’s impression of Alden when they met on Eat Bulaga?

“I met Alden today at the television studio. [He’s a] great guy, very humble, very mild-mannered, very quiet.”

He said about Maine, the other half of the phenomenal AlDub love team, “I did not get to meet Maine today, but I think maybe tomorrow [referring to November 29] I’ll get to meet her, maybe.”

Before he even arrived in the Philippines, White has been watching several Kalyeserye episodes and he gave this observation about the performances of Alden: “I think he has a great voice. I love his delivery vocally, he has a really unique style.”

Just as Lola Nidora (played by Wally Bayola) is fond of saying “Sa Tamang Panahon,” White also believes that there is a right time for everything.

“It just goes to show you that everything is sort of like in God’s time,” he said about having a massive hit in the country.

His ballad “God Gave Me You" was released back in 1999, at the same time as his album How Lucky I Am.

Sixteen years later, the song GGMY is experiencing newfound success in the Philippines this 2015.

The 41-year-old singer admitted, “It was a hit in the United States but nothing compared to here now.

“So, you can’t judge things, you just have to let them, let God do what he does so here we are, 16 years later. It’s amazing how music travels, it has its own timing.”

White also acknowledged the huge role that Aldub Nation played in boosting the popularity of his love anthem.

“The thing to me that is beautiful about the success of this [song,] is that it’s all because of the fans. It’s because they connected with it, they’re the ones that made it into a success, and AlDub, and Eat Bulaga.

“So, it’s just an amazing phenomenon, I’m grateful to be a part of it.”
