Arnel Pineda is set to rock the Music Museum with his major solo concert Arnel Pineda: Love and Rock n’ Roll in February 27, 2016.
This concert will showcase Arnel Pineda’s songwriting prowess that began in 1995.
ARNEL AS A SONGWRITER. Arnel told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press, “Since 1995, nagsusulat na ako, e.
“That’s a big part of my heart na hindi ko nailabas, e. Kasi maraming nangyari sa buhay ko, e.
“Nandun yung time na nawalan ako ng boses. Hindi ko alam kung magkakaboses pa ako ulit.
“Tuloy pa rin yung paggawa ko ng kanta kasi its one of my biggest passions talaga.
“Pag nalulungkot ako ito yung escape ko, e, para hindi ko maramdaman yung pain ng reality.”
ARNEL PINEDA: LOVE AND ROCK N’ ROLL. The 48-year-old singer will focus on his own music when he holds his concert in 2016.
Most of the compositions he will perform in his concert are originals and will be heard first on that night.
What convinced him to hold a solo major concert?
He explained, “It’s one of the tests I am trying to experiment.
“Well as we all know ako yung klase ng artist dito sa Pilipinas na walang tumatak sa akin na original songs ko kung hindi nagko-cover lang ako, e.
“Nakilala ako kasi kino-cover ko yung songs ng Journey.
“Wala akong base talaga.
“Kumbaga nagkaroon na ako agad ng base sa America, e, sa Europe, sa Canada so tina-try ko naman ngayon as Arnel Pineda, ma magkaroon ng sarili kong base not with Journey.
“Kumbaga yung hindi sa tulong ng Journey.”
The singer admits that it’s his choice to hold his event in a small venue because he knows that he still needs to win the hearts of Filipino fans.
“Madaming nagtatanong bakit hindi ako mag-show ng Araneta or MOA na ako lang, sabi ko, ‘No, hindi ko kayang gawin yan.’
“Hindi ako katulad nila Martin [Nievera] o nila Gary [Valenciano] na mayroon na silang pinanghahawakan na mga hits way back '80s hanggang ngayon, I don’t have that.
“So bakit ako maglalakas ng loob na gumawa ng ganun. I am trying to be conservative here so ite-test muna natin ang waters and then let’s see what happens.
“Kung ma-accept ng tao then we go further maybe go bigger hanggang kung saan ang marating.”
Arnel revealed that after holding his concert, there are plans to release his first solo album.
His said that his tour with his band Journey has delaying the release time but he assures fans that he is working on it.
“We’re trying to release it in March or April of next year. It’s in the making for 3-4 years na, I’ve been touring with the band Journey and we’ve been busy touring Europe, America, Canada, and South America.
“I really don’t have enough time to give my sincere effort para matapos ‘to agad.
“Every year na natatapos kami isinisingit ko ‘to so hopefully next year for the fourth [year] matapos na ‘to. I’ve been hoping na matapos ko na ‘to agad.”
Arnel also addressed rumors about him leaving the iconic American band Journey.
He clarifies, “No, I think we will go on as far as we can.
“Sila na lang ang magtitigil nito, e.
“Just so you know, obviously I am the youngest, I can still go on as far as I can, sila yung biggest questions dito kung hanggang saan na lang nila kaya ituloy ‘to, e.
“Kasi they’ve done this for more than 40 years, hindi natin alam how much more time they need para ma-fill up yung buhay nila. Dito na sila tumanda, dito na sila nagka-isip, e.”
Are there plans to bring Journey to the Philippines?
“I’ve been trying since last year.
“Actually meron kami noong 2013, nataon kasi siya na mahal na araw, graduation so medyo mahina yung tulak [ng sales] so na-cancel siya.
“So ito, try ko ulit hopefully late next year or the surest is 2017.”
What keeps Arnel Pineda grounded despite his current stature in the rock scene?
“Pagdating ko sa bahay hindi ganun ang treatment nila sa akin which is so good.
“Kasi sa bahay nagluluto ako, tinatanggal ko lang yung makeup ko, ako pa rin nagluluto ng pananghalian, naghuhugas ako ng pinggan, nagwawalis ako ng mga dahon sa labas.
“I like doing those things, it keeps me grounded. Talagang taong tao pa rin yung pakiramdam ko hindi ko pa rin nilalagay sa puso at isipan ko na meron akong fans out there nag-scream pag naririnig lang ang boses ko, wala yun.”
Apart from his music, the rock star is also busy helping kids through his Arnel Pineda Foundation Inc. (AFPI), a non-stock, non-profit, and independent Philippine foundation that provides underprivileged children quality education, health services, and medical attention.
Arnel pointed out, “Nagme-medical mission kami, gift giving.
“I am actually doing a couple of gift giving ngayong pasko, December 15 and 16, so mamimigay tayo ulit ng bigas, tsinelas, magpapakain tayo, mamimigay tayo ng pang Noche Buena.
“Meron pa rin tayong scholars na kini-keep, 15 sila, unfortunately mayroong bumabagsak na dalawa kasi hindi na nila kaya yung pressure ng eskwela, dala na rin siguro ng pressure ng poverty kaya minsan naghahati yung time nila.
“We’re trying to develop a kid na talagang out of poverty, e, mag-excel talaga siya.”
How does he choose his scholars?
He explains, “Dito lang muna around Quezon City kasi nahahati yung time ko ng trabaho so I have to be as near as possible dun sa mga tinutulungan ko kasi, traffic, mamaya maubos lang yung oras ko dun, I still have other things to do.
“Recording, I spend my time with my family, minsan nag one-on-one kami ng mga anak ko, I have to spend time with them para we understand each other, importante yan lalo na sa akin minsan busy tayo.
“Regardless of our busy schedules kailangan pag pamilyado kang tao, naiintindhan ka pa rin ng asawa mo, naiintindihan ka pa rin ng anak mo, dapat naiintindihan ka pa rin nila, dapat meron pa rin ganung communication.”
