Why did Jona a.k.a. Jonalyn Viray leave GMA-7?

Jona said that she sought the permission of her former network GMA-7 before transferring to ABS-CBN. She revealed that it was Star Music's plans that made her decide to be a part of the Kapamilya Network.

Jonalyn Viray, who now goes by the screen name Jona, said that it was Star Music’s plans for her that convinced her transfer to ABS-CBN.

In an interview with Boy Abunda in Tonight With Boy Abunda, Jona said that she talked with GMA first before making her transfer to ABS-CBN.

In the same episode, it was announced that Jona is now officially part of ABS-CBN's music subsidiary.

Jona said that it was also Star Music’s decision to change her name from Jonalyn Viray to Jona.

Currently, Jona is one of the interpreters for the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2016 competition. The song is titled “Maghihintay Ako.”
