Bayang Barrios impressed viewers through her rendition of the Philippine national anthem.
The folk singer was tapped to sing the Lupang Hinirang at President Rodrigo Duterte's 1st State of the Nation Address on Monday afternoon, July 25.
Bayang, who hails from Agusan del Sur, donned a simple dress created by Joel Acebuce that features the Manobo colors red, black, blue, white, and yellow.
Bayang belted the national anthem in front of millions of Filipinos watching all over the country. Unfortunately, Bayang experienced a few technical difficulties while singing the national anthem but this didn't stop her from giving a heartfelt rendition.
In a previous interview, Bayang admitted she felt nervous about performing the Philippine national anthem.
She said, "Mas kinakabahan ako doon [sa SONA], kasi ako lang mag-isa, tapos Pambansang Awit. Di ba mahirap yung kantahin pag ikaw lang? Sana kung nakalinya kayo at marami kayong kumakanta, okay lang.
“Kasi mag-isa lang ako at lahat ng mga tao nakatingin sa iyo."
Netizens were impressed by her performance despite the technical glitches. The OPM singer even became a trending topic on Twitter after her performance.
