GMA Artist Center's all-male group One Up wants to prove that they are not just a typical boy band. The sing-and-dance boy group wants to be known as a talented group.

GMA Artist Center has just launched its newest boy group, called One Up, which consists of 10 good-looking young lads.

The members were discovered through the Kapuso Network’s numerous talent shows and programs and later on became part of GMA-7’s talent arm.

Asked behind the name of the group, Nikki Co, a StarStruck 6 alumnus, replied: “Dini-dedicate talaga namin kay Lord. We pray talaga lagi before the show. Siya rin ang nagbigay sa amin ng blessing na ito, so why not give it back to Him?”

Ralf King, former grand champion of Popstar Kids Season 2, said about the group, “We can sing and dance. When we perform in front of many people gusto po nila synchronized po lahat.

“In Korea, lahat ng boyband every time they perform, they synchronize and gusto nila mangyari yo’n sa amin,” he said at the press launch held on Thursday, August 11, at Kuya J Restaurant in Quezon City.

“Sa amin it’s not just dance, but also singing kaya hinahasa po nila yung sing and dance namin po.”

Currently the group continues to undergo workshops twice a week.

Dave Bornea, a Mister Pogi 2012 finalist and StarStruck 6 aspirant, said that they offer more than just good looks.

“Para sa amin, we can sing, we can dance better. Hindi naman pasttime itong ginagawa namin.

“Binibigyan namin ng effort.

“As long as nakikita namin yung mga fans namin na masaya, masaya na po kami. Para sa kanila naman po ito.”

Meanwhile, Brent Valdez from To The Top, a former talent search of GMA, stated that they want to prove themselves as more than just a “boy band.”

“Ayaw lang po naming tawagin kaming boy band lang ‘yan, pare-parehas lang naman.

“Gusto po naming tawagin kami as talented boy band.”

Half-Portuguese, half-Filipino member Yasser Marta pointd out that their newly launched group already has a solid foundation.

“Iba ang pagmamahal namin, parang magkakapatid kami and yung chemistry namin, dito namin mapapakita,” said Yasser, a Spogify finalist on Eat Bulaga.

“Sobrang saya namin pag nagpe-perform. Parang ginagawa namin siya as a hobby.”

Some members have appeared separately in different Kapuso shows. One Up has already been tapped for several GMA-7 shows such as Yan Ang Morning, Mars, Unang Hirit, and Sunday Pinasaya.

The other members of One Up include StarStruck 6 aspirants Kevin Sagra, Jay Arcilla, Prince Clemente, Joemarie Nielsen, and Arjan Jimenez.
