Martin Nievera takes on a new role as the new celebrity endorser of Solaire Hotel Resort & Casino. This was revealed in a press conference held at the Eclipse Entertainment Lounge in Solaire last August 18.
Dubbed as "Follow the Sun," the new corporate video features the Concert King as the new face and voice of the hotel. The music was penned by The Company’s Moy Ortiz.
After the video premiere, the multi-awarded singer treated the press hotel executives to a mini concert where he sang a medley of Frank Sinatra hits and well-loved OPM hits such as “Say That You Love Me”, “Please Don’t Throw My Love Away”,” How Can I” and “Be My Lady.” He also did lovely rendition of “What a Wonderful World.”
Also present during the presscon were hotel executives Cyrus Sherafat (SVP – Casino Marketing), Michael Dinges (Director – Culinary) and theater performer Audie Gemora who holds the position Director for Entertainment.
Cyrus Sherafat feels that Martin is the right endorser for the hotel.
“Martin embodies who Solaire is – he is a homegrown star, known for his many talents. He is a perfect match for Solaire.
“He's the right man for the job. performing is what he does best . Whenever he guests here, there's a lot of buzz in the property.”
He added, “We'll definitely have a lot of performances in the theater even do some intimate ones in eclipse, private dinners with VIP guests. We will do a cook off where Martin will be cooking a burger will be competing with the chef and there’s a lot more things coming.
The hotel executives were asked what made Martin special.
“He’s a very funny guy. He likes to entertain with the crowd he engages with people. Our customers get to do a lot of things on a daily basis.”
On Martin, Michael Dinges says, “He likes to eat. It’s the aura when he comes to the room when I met Martin. One thing I look forward is the cook off. We will have some great stories to share.”
The Concert King feels that he has reinvented himself. “Being the endorser, the face, the voice, that’s one way of reinventing myself, giving my career another life…It is as I have been reborn again. They allow me to be myself hopefully it will be contagious.”
Martin reminisced that there was a time in his career that he tried to please everyone which is impossible.
“I’m being more sensitive by keeping OPM alive that the millennials will hopefully listen to me as well.
“My grandmother, she loved you. But now, sometimes I get people saying you are on my playlist. There’s a balance. I really have to work hard to do that.”
The singer quipped that he is the hotel’s “COO” (Cousin of the Owner): “I’m actually Martin Ramon Razon Nievera. Ricky Razon is a fearless leader.”
Martin admitted, “I’m so glad that they asked me to do this. I’ve been going to casinos and resorts all over the world performing. I never got the chance. I have to a lot of hotel resorts and casinos all over the world. I never got to do the likes of [Frank] Sinatra and the rat pack when they would frequent a particular hotel and everyone thinks that the guy of the hotel.
“I told Ricky many, many years ago I want to be your Sinatra. We didn’t know what it meant until this day that actually I will be the loud mouth, the big mouth of Solaire resort and casino…we want to get the word out there. That this is the place to be… you have to follow the sun. We have the best view of the sunset. And symbolically, it means…it’s all Filipino. It’s place with the best restaurants. Great service, five-star classic service. We are asking you to follow our lead.”
Apart from the concerts that he will do, Martin is quite excited about Martin’s burger in the menu and the great “cook-off” between him and the Chef.
Regarding the family recipe of Martin’s burger, Michael commented “We had to do a little work on it. There was the tasting…it’s part of his life. He brought the recipe from his family owned shop I want to make sure that its right. All these memories are in these burgers. We need to respect that. You eat something from your parents out of their heart and that’s what we want to achieve. It will be in the menu in the next two weeks. Martin is special and the burger has to be a little bit more special.”
On the hotel’s entertainment plans and programs, Audie pointed out, “We are starting with all the icons first we want to establish ourselves as the center of entertainment bringing in all the icons. We plan to bring in Sylvia La Torre.”
Audie also mentioned that the Eclipse Lounge will under renovation. He disclosed, “Hopefully in this area, we will put our own stars, create our own acts a lot of musicals are coming in: big Broadway type of musicals…we will start bringing in Filipino original musicals.”
