At age 14, Jayda Zaragoza-Avanzado is already set on establishing a name of her own even as she follows in the footsteps of her parents, mom Jessa Zaragoza and dad Dingdong Avanzado.
Dingdong and Jessa reveal how they reacted when they learned of their daughter’s desire to try her luck in the music industry.
“I don’t think it’s up for us to discourage her because parang sinabi na rin namin na hindi kami proud sa industriya namin, e,” said Dingdong during the November 23 presscon for their upcoming concert, 20/30 Dingdong Avanzado and Jessa Zaragoza Anniversary Concert.
Dingdong, 49, continued, “Hindi namin siya pinilit. We did not encourage her, but we did not discourage her as well.”
It was their musically inclined daughter who followed her passion and expressed the desire to try singing.
The couple have observed that Jayda has a talent for songwriting and she can play instruments such as the piano and guitar.
“When we saw that she’s very passionate sa kanyang music, kailangan suportahan namin. We support her and we are thankful because God has blessed her with a talent,” continued the proud dad.
Jessa shared the same sentiments as her husband.
The 38-year-old female singer-actress explained, “Basta kung ano ang gusto niya. Saka pag nakita mo na yung anak mo talagang legit na musikero, di mo na talaga mapipigilan.”
However, she confessed that she was reluctant at first to allow her only child to enter the industry.
“Ako nung una talaga, personally, kinabahan ako. Parang ito ba talaga ang gusto niya? Ang gulo sa industriyang ito.
“Pero kahit saan ka pumasok talagang merong conflict, merong challenges.
“Pero ngayon in-embrace na namin.
“Ito yung gusto niya. Basta kung ano ang direksyon na gusto niya, iga-guide namin.”
Jayda will be singing along with her parents during their December 8 concert at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City.
Other guests include Angeline Quinto, Klarisse De Guzman, Lloyd Zaragoza, Xian Lim, and Ogie Alcasid.
