After almost two years of being in the industry, the members of GMA-7's all-male group One Up are aware about the strong competition among the boy groups in showbiz.
One Up is composed of GMA Artist Center male singers and dancers from different reality shows: Pop Star Kids grand winner Ralf King, To The Top hopeful Brent Valdez, Eat Bulaga's "Spogify" finalist Yasser Marta, and StarStruck 6 Avengers Kevin Sagra, Jay Arcilla, Nikki Co, Joemarie Nielsen, Arjan Jimenez, Prince Clemente, and Dave Bornea.
The group has always been pitted against rival network ABS-CBN's two original boy bands: Hashtags and Boyband PH.
However, the members of the Kapuso boyband said there is no competition among the groups.
According to Yasser, they have crossed paths with members of Hashtags and Boyband PH during out-of-town shows.
Wala talaga. Kasi yung iba kaibigan din namin."
The group members were asked about being compared to other boy bands who do lip syncing while performing on stage.
Jay admitted that there are also times when he did that while performing.
Siguro kailangan natin silang maintindihan."
One Up members were interviewed by PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other bloggers during a media conference held last January 23 at Cave Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
The boy group just released its first single titled "Smile," which was produced by GMA Records.
A music video shot in Nagcarlan, Laguna will be released by the end of January.

NEW STARSTRUCK SEASON. This year, GMA-7 is set to launch another season of StarStruck.
As mentioned above, seven members of One Up are graduates of StarStruck's sixth season.
During this season, Klea Pineda and Migo Adecer emerged as Ultimate Survivors.
PEP.ph then asked during the presscon proper how they feel about the new batch of celebrities to be introduced by GMA.
Dave, who played an important role in Alyas Robin Hood, quipped, "Mixed emotions po... Hinahanda na po namin yung sarili namin... Hahaha!
Meanwhile, Haplos actor Nikki admitted that he feels challenged upon the entry of new artista hopefuls.
"For me, personally, magiging challenge siyempre, kasi maraming bago.
As for Jay, who has a special role in the upcoming drama series Contessa, is already happy that he is part of One Up.
"Meron namang One Up, e. Kaya we love One Up!"
