Why did Ogie Alcasid cry over his daughter Leila Alcasid?

Will Ogie Alcasid allow daughter Leila to become an actress in the future?

Ogie Alcasid was very emotional when his daughter, Leila Alcasid, had her contract signing with ABS-CBN's record label Star Music.

The veteran singer, who also serves as the manager of Leila, kissed her on the head as he sat down with her to answer questions from the press.

How proud is he as a father to Leila, his daughter with beauty queen Michelle van Eimeren?

"Kino-control ko lang emotions ko. I remember I started when I was [Leila's] age, 20. Parang full circle, that's how it feels," said Ogie in a video uploaded by ABS-CBN News.

Ogie couldn't talk as he shed tears and gave his daughter a hug.

"Let me collect my thoughts," said Ogie as he excused himself. He admitted, "I didn't realize I was going to be very emotional."

He continued, "It's her time. Nakikita ko 'yon, it makes me so happy, so joyful, so blessed, so thankful. I'm really grateful to ABS-CBN that they gave her this chance, because she is very talented. She's very smart, she's very kind, she's very humble."

The Tawag ng Tanghalan judge was asked to recall the advice that he gave to the showbiz newbie whose single will be released this February.

"Huwag mo na ituloy," joked Ogie.

Turning serious, he answered:

"Mahirap 'to. It's not an easy job. There are a lot of sacrifices that come with it. Maraming mga bashers, lalo na ngayon, because of social media. But if this is what you feel like doing, I'm 100% supportive of her."

Will Ogie Alcasid allow daughter Leila to become an actress in the future?

"Oo naman, nagwo-workshop siya. I trust yung vision niya. Alam ko gusto niyang mag-artista. But she'll do it when she's confident already.

"I'm sure er mom [Michelle van Eimeren] is very proud of her. Of course, pati asawa ko [Regine Velasquez]."
