Filipino fans are gearing up for the 2018 Wanderland Music & Arts Festival, produced by Karpos Multimedia Inc.
The annual music and arts festival will hold its 6th edition at Filinvest City Event Grounds in Muntinlupa City this Saturday, March 8.
This year's OPM representatives are fast-rising bands IV of Spades and Ben&Ben.
Both bands talked about their music in a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
IV of Spades is four-piece band composed of Zild Benitez, Badjao de Castro, Blaster Silonga, and Unique Salonga.
The band is currently managed by Callalily frontman Kean Cipriano.
It's been four years since the band was formed. Members of IV of Spades are grateful for their fans' support.
Zild expressed, "When we were starting, every one's not believing in our music.
"There's a lot of people that think that we're just playing around so I think this is a huge step for us to show our family that we're doing the things that we want.
"And that we're on the right track, I think."
The band has released singles that include "Mundo," "Where Have You Been, My Disco?," "Hey Barbara," and "Ilaw Sa Daan."
With their retro-inspired music and aesthetic, the band's following has massively increased and is still growing.
When asked what they think is the reason most millenials appreciate their music, Zild explained, "I think because we have the idea on how to connect with the young people.
"We are one of them so we know how to linger with their minds so I think, they're just having that relationship with us, subconsciously with our music. So I feel grateful."
What can their fans expect from the band in the coming months?
Zild answered, "Hopefully this year, we could release more music but expect more music from us because that's what we do."
Indie folk band Ben&Ben will also be performing their hits at the music and arts festival.
Ben&Ben is composed of brothers Paolo and Miguel Guico (acoustic guitars and vocals), Poch Barretto (electric guitar), Jam Villanueva (drums), Agnes Reoma (bass), Patricia Lasaten (keyboards), Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano (percussions), and Keifer Cabugao (violin).
Some of their mos recent singles are "Kathang Isip," "Branches," and "Maybe the Night."
The nine-man band is just grateful that Filipinos are discovering and appreciating their music.
Miguel spoke in behalf of the band, "I guess everything na nae-experience namin sa band, we really see them as blessings.
"And spirit of gratefulness lang talaga kami as a band kasi, of course, all of this wouldn't be possible without everyone putting their share para ma-accomplish yung mga ganitong bagay.
"And for that talagang nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng partners namin, and especially kay God kasi as in."
Last month, the band released their latest music video for the song "Maybe the Night."
But they are also preparing a lot more surprises for their listeners for the rest of the year.
Miguel said, "We're picking out a lot of new music this year and then maliban dun marami kaming big, big projects and suprises for all you pero secret muna."
