Get ready to see Ian Veneracion as a balladeer, a rock star, and a storyteller in his first major concert titled Ian in 3 Acts.

Magaganap ang Ian in 3 Acts sa Resorts World Manila, Pasay City, ngayong Linggo, May 13.

“But it’s not an instrument that I focused on in the past years.

“Pero yun, sinubukan namin sa A Love to Last and they’re very encouraging naman.

“Si Ma’am Charo [Santos-Concio] sinasabi niya, 'You know, you can sing.' So, nag-enjoy ako.”

Nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Ian sa kanyang concert presscon na ginanap sa Karaoke Republic, Tomas Morato, Quezon City noong Lunes, May 7.

Pagkatapos daw ng A Love to Last ay may mga nagawa na siyang kanta.

Aniya, “Nag-record ako ng song and then, there was one song, yung 'We’re All Alone.'

"And then, I met Tita Flor [Santos, isa sa mga producer ng concert] and Tita Flor wanted to produce a song and then, handpicked lahat ng members of the band.

"First rehearsal naman, lutang ako.

"As in, nalalasing ako sa tugtugan.

"Sabi ko, ito mismo. Kaya rin ako kahit nagpu-promote sa TV, ayoko ng lip sync kasi, it feels like you’re pretending something that you’re not.

"So if I’ll sing, it should be live.

"If I’m gonna make a show, a concert, it should be live musician, live band, nothing recorded.

"Because it’s different, e, including all the mistakes, the timing and everything.

Anong pakiramdam niya tungkol dito?

Ani Ian, “Hindi ko alam… yun nga, acting, I’ve been doing it since I was a kid.

"I see myself as an actor talaga but in-terms of music, I don’t have to pretend something that I’m not.

"So I play songs that I love playing. I sing the way I sing.

“Marami akong ina-idolize sa pagkanta na professional singers but yun nga, I choose my genre, songs that are close to my heart.”

Paliwanag ni Ian, “It’s actually the generation of my father, not the music of my generation.

Special guests niya sina L.A. Santos, Jaya, Jona at Jong Cuenco.

Pero, bakit Ian in 3 Acts ang title?

“Well, it’s three parts," paliwanag niya.

"The first part is the Ian that you know, I will have a Jose Mari Chan medley there.

"And then yung Act Two, yung Ian that you don’t know—which is, the rock star side of me.

"May mga surprises pa run."

"And the third act is the combination of both.

"I hate the attention but at the same time, I’m an actor obviously, I love the attention also.

"Yung mga contradictions. That’s both me as a private person and a performer."

Patuloy pa niya, “Yung show, hindi namin gustong gawing music lang.

"May malaking LED [screen] sa likod and sometimes I interact with that.

"May background, I’m like part of the scene and may number na we actually create a scene and then, yun nga, it’s more like a concept show.

But since ako nga, I’m more of an actor than a singer, I need to tell a story.”
