Three years after he first visited the Philippines, Niall Horan returned to Manila to perform for his Filipino fans.
This 2018, he held his solo concert in Manila for his Flicker Tour.
The 24-year-old singer performed hits from his album Flicker as well as a few covers last June 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Niall surprised fans by performing several hits from his boy band One Direction.
Here are some highlights of his Philippine concert:
-
The crowd cheered when Niall Horan opened his Flicker Tour Manila concert with the songs "On The Loose," "This Town," "Paper Houses," and "You and Me."
-
Niall warned those in the standing area to step back or he would stop the show.
This was after he saw that some concertgoers were tripping up because of the tight space.
When everything was settled, he performed his cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" and "Seeing Blind."
-
In the middle of the concert, Niall requested his fans to put their phones inside their pockets.
He then went on to sing "Flicker."
He recalled that he was able to write this song for only 20 minutes because he "knows exactly all I wanted to say, how I wanted to say it."
-
He also performed the songs "Fool's Gold" and "Too Much To Ask."
"It’s absolutely fantastic to be back in Manila! A beautiful country of beautiful people,” said Niall.
-
Niall surprised his fans by performing a song not included in his album.
He told concertgoers that the song titled "So Long" was supposed to be a part of his album Flicker.
However, he pointed out: "It felt like some of the production on this song stood out a little bit too much from the rest of the album."
-
He then performed Since "We're Alone," "Fire Away," and a cover of Camila Cabello's "Crying in the Club" and "On My own."
When Camila saw Niall's version of her debut single, she took to Twitter and wrote "WOWEEEEEE" to describe his performance.
-
Niall already left the stage when he suddenly surprised everyone with his performance of One Direction's "Drag Me Down," which made the audience scream.
It was in March 2015 when Niall first visited the Philippines together with other members of One Direction: Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles. Zayn Malik wasn't able to perform at the concert.
Days later, Zayn announced his departure from 1D.
During the 2015 One Direction concert, Niall thanked his Pinoy fans back then by saying:
"We really appreciate your support. The crowds in Manila have been really amazing.
"I feel sorry for the rest of the countries since they have a lot to live up to. You guys were great."
-
Before ending his show with the song "Mirrors," Niall thanked his fans, especially those who paid for tickets of their fellow fans.
Towards the end of the concert, the 24-year-old singer threw away gifts to the crowd.
-
Twitter user @charmartin1d was dressed to impress during the concert. Some people who attended the concert were rushing to have a photo with him.
