Bailey May has become quite the jetsetter since joining the international pop group Now United.
Flying all the way to countries such as Japan, South Korea, Senegal, and more, the former Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) contestant is now back in Manila for a series of mall shows.
Catch Now United perform live at Venice Piazza in Grand Canal Mall this Sunday (July 22) at 6 PM.
Bailey is the only Filipino artist in Now United, the global pop group being managed by Simon Fuller, the man behind the iconic girl group Spice Girls.
Being part of a group composed of 14 performers from all over the globe, Bailey never forgets to proudly represent his Pinoy roots wherever he is.
“I think when I go to the countries of my fellow members, there are Filipino fans in their country who come and meet me and I show my pagka-Pinoy by speaking Tagalog sa mga fans ko and tapping into the Filipino lifestyle again by talking to them and just relating. But other than that, wearing the flag on my pants,” said Bailey recently in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the Philippine media.
The pop star even briefed the members of Now United regarding the Philippines and about Filipino manners.
"The first thing I told them prior to arriving here was to use the phrase ‘po’ because it pays respect to the elders and I think it’s just right because that was the first thing I was taught when I arrived here. And have fun, because it’s more fun in the Philippines.”
Bailey admits that being part of Now United is a dream come true for him.
“I wanted to pursue Now United because my dream has always been to be an international artist, to be in Hollywood. It’s always been my dream since I was a kid. So when I found out about this opportunity, I knew it was for me straight away so I worked really hard to get it, I competed with amazing people from this country, very talented. It’s been a dream come true.”
ON MISSING YLONA. After being in a love team with fellow PBB housemate Ylona Garcia since 2015, Bailey officially confirms that BaiLona is no more.
He points out that they have taken on different endeavors for their careers.
“We have parted ways. She’s going on with her career with Sana Dalawa ang Puso and my whole focus in on Now United.”
Does Bailey miss Ylona?
“Of course, [I miss her]. I’ve worked with Ylona for many years so, of course, she’s very valuable to me because of working with her at the time, but then again we’re separating with our own journey.”
Will Bailey still be working with ABS-CBN while fulfilling his duties for Now United?
“I’m working very close to ABS-CBN. They will always be within my heart because they made me, of course. And I’ll be going back to the Philippines every now and then for trabaho.”
