Veteran stand-up comedians Jon Santos, John Lapus and Candy Pangilinan will once again brandish their brand of comedy for the entire month of November. Watch the three comedians in Da Spooftacular Showdown, which will be held at the Music Museum starting this Friday, November 7.
This live comedy event, produced by ASAP Live!, will run every Friday and Saturday until December 5 and 6.
Da Spooftacular Showdown promises laughter, laughter and more laughter as the three take turns in delivering witty punchlines, production numbers and comedy skits delivered through their trademark impersonation of popular celebrities like Sweet's Kris Anino and Jon Santos's distinct take on the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos.
Aside from portraying these characters, Spooftacular will introduce new characters led by Candy's parody of Betty La Fea and child singing sensation, Charice Pempengco, this time christened as Charos Pempengco. Jon, on the other hand, will portray international host Okra Winfrey while Candy champions the young singer's record titled, Ang Galing Mo, Charos!
The show promises to be one wacky riot as the producers decided to tap Pokwang, Pooh, Vice Ganda and K Brosas to serve as special guests. The entire cast will make the most of the intimate venue by encouraging audience participation led by beauty guru Vicki Bolo.
LAUGH FEST. In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last October 30, John Lapus proudly took note of the inclusion of fresh jokes and skits to keep the audience entertained which is a must since the show is not a one-day affair.
He also acknowledged the production team behind Da Spooftacular Showdown particularly scriptwriters Kim Idol, Ador Cuntapay and Joel Mercado. Even director Phillip Lazaro is an intimate friend making the skits and exchange between the mainstays and guests come out naturally.
Jon pointed out that there will be no political skits this year as everyone opted to do away with any subject dealing with politics. With that being said, expect the parodies to concentrate purely on celebrities and entertainment personalities. The writers bravely announced that the jokes were not sanitized, meaning to say that the skits were not toned down just to avoid the possible ire of the subjects.
Talking about the show's main objective, Jon said: "E, kasi nga daw nakaka-aburido ang mga bad news sa pahayagan. Mag-break muna tayo for two hours man lang at mag-relax at magtawanan sandali tapos mas madali tayong magkaroon ng relief, comic relief, para tuloy ang buhay, hindi tayo masyadong nasa-sad."
ASAP Live! is the same group behind the hit live comedy shows PoohKwang and Rock Da Vote Night at the Museum.
