It’s been eight years since Sharon Cuneta hosted ABS-CBN’s defunct reality-TV singing competition, Star Power: Sharon’s Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar, but her generosity to those who’ve been part of the show is still very much appreciated till today.
Star Power finalist Natasia Cunanan, who has since turned into a professional singer and is now part of the acoustic duo, Both of Us (BOU), can’t forget how she got financial support from the Megastar for her ailing mother.
Natasia shared the story in a report posted on ABS-CBN News hours before she and her BOU bandmate Sherman Tupas hit the stage for their concert, titled Love Life, last January 11 at the Music Museum.
“Itong benefit concert na ito is for my mother, mayroon siyang brain tumor,” she said. “Actually, na-operahan na siya before with the help of Miss Sharon Cuneta.”
She said further about the Megastar: “Noong nalaman niya kung bakit ako sumali sa Star Power, kasi para mapagamot nga ang mother ko, binulungan niya ako. Sabi niya, 'Win or lose, ako na bahala sa mama mo.' Ngayon po nag-recur yung tumor at nagkaroon ng infections.”
Natasia now hopes that Sharon can once again extend a helping hand to her mother.
"Sana mabigyan ng chance na makarating sa kanya itong condition ni Mama," she said, adding that she feels positive that her mother will overcome the medical ordeal.
BOU’s concert had as guest performers Star Power grand winner Angeline Quinto, Katrina Velarde, and Benj Manalo.
The following day, BOU expressed, through Facebook, their gratitude to those who came to their show and made it a success.
