Music enthusiasts, fans and supporters convened for the annual MYX Mo 2009 concert for a night of music, inspiration and pure fun with over 60 artists and bands at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds last night, November 26.
With the theme of "Bangon, Republic of MYX," the concert aimed to inspire Filipinos to move forward and stand up after the tragedies that have passed and prepare themselves for the decisions that they will have to make in the coming elections. Aside from this, Filipino musicians and bands proved that music can serve as an avenue in making people aware about climate change—the effects of which we are now experiencing.
Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda said that he is impressed with this year’s theme for MYX Mo and thinks that an event like this happened so that Filipinos will enjoy and lighten up after the consecutive calamities.
"Maganda ’tong ginawa ng MYX kasi kaysa magmukmok tayo, nakita natin na may lighter side na dinala yung mga tragedy kasi lumabas yung mga Filipino heroes. Maganda yung concert kasi napasaya niya ulit yung mga tao even if 2009 has been very rough to the Philippines and it reminds us na okay lang yan," said Chito.
The crowd’s enthusiasm was intensified by the series of performances of local artists and bands including some of the hottest musical acts as well as up and coming performers.
Yael of Spongecola pointed out, "I’m grateful that I was lucky enough to be part of the opening number. We’ve been through a lot of hardships in different variations, and at this point, I encourage everyone to just keep on fighting the good fight, have fun, take part in social activities, know what’s going on in the country."
Rico Blanco said that he is proud for this year’s MYX Mo wherein many artists are willing to help, share and inspire Filipinos. He believes that each of us should help one another especially during times of trouble.
Rock Princess Yeng Constantino concluded, "Through music, hinihimok natin yung mga tao lalo na yung kabataan na maging united at hindi lang isipin yung sariling future pero yung sa lahat ng kapwa Pinoy. Magandang weapon ang music for this."
They were a just a few of the many artists who contributed their time and talent that night to support MYX’s cause of bringing hope to the country, especially the youth , through this powerful tool we call music.
MYX (Skycable Ch. 23) is available on SkyCable Gold, SkyCable Silver and other quality cable operators nationwide.
