Sitti still soars with ’Cafe Bossa’

Sitti

Sitti continues soaring greater heights in her music career via her debut album, Café Bossa, that has already reached the platinum status. Café Bossa, which received wide reception from the young and adult music fans of bossa nova, made a strong dent in sales in today’s pop alternative dominated music business. The CD reportedly sold over 35,000 units and still selling more under Warner Music Philippines.

Café Bossa is still No. 1 seller for so many weeks now at major retail stores: 35 weeks at Tower/Music One, 24 weeks at Odyssey, 24 weeks at Astro, 22 weeks at SM record bars and 13 weeks at Radio City.

The enormous sales achieved by the Café Bossa has tagged Sitti as the "Queen Of Bossa." The title is best suited only for Sitti who started a new trend and drew wide appreciation for bossa music among the new generation.

"I want people in my age bracket to be aware about jazz and bossa nova, and that there’s more to music besides the standard pop," shares Sitti. Blame it to Sitti for the widespread popularity today of her bossa tunes that have become a favorite pipe-in music in every cozy food and coffee shop in the country.

While her debut outing is still hot, now comes a follow-up CD simply called Sitti Live! which was recorded during her live performance last May at the newly constructed Ortigas Park along Emerald Avenue. It’s a showcase of her brilliant performance of bossa nova classics that drew applause from a mixed crowd of young and old.

Sitti Live! contains 17 tracks of live performances, eight of which are from Sitti’s debut album, Café Bossa, while the rest of the tracks are best loved bossa hits recorded live at the Ortigas Park.

Some of these hits include "Waters Of March," "For Your Eyes Only," "Fever," "Agua De Beber, "Samba Song" and the OPM Bossa Classic, and "Ikaw Pa Rin," originally popularized by Tito Mina in the ‘70s.
