A family-oriented festival will take place this Sunday, April 22, as part of the country's festivities for the international celebration of Earth Day.
Dubbed "Baga't Hangin Musikahan 2007: An Earth Day Celebration Call For Clean Air and Good Health," the event will be staged at the elliptical grounds of the Lung Center of the Philippines from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m.
This project, which was made possible by the concerted effort of various government and non-government organizations, will highlight the importance of a clean and a healthy environment for generations of Filipinos.
A free live concert will be provided by the groups Orange and Lemons, Brownman Revival, Pinikpikan, Akafellas, and Lou Bonnevie Group plus acoustic singers Paolo Santos and Aiza Seguerra. In addition, celebrity guests from the Actors' Guild of the Philippines and other local performers will participate in the environment-oriented event.
To be held simultaneously with the musical production are activities that will promote health and environment consciousness like free pulmonary work-up; exhibit of health effects of air pollution; free vehicle emission testing and demonstration of alternative fuels; free testing of vehicular air-conditioning units if chemicals used are ozone-friendly; on-the-spot poster-making contest for youth aged 12 to 15 years old; and a Sunday Market of organically-grown food.
