GMA Network Inc. and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) recently signed a new Music License Agreement. Under the agreement, GMA-7 was granted a blanket license to publicly perform in its television broadcasts the musical works of the members of FILSCAP. The agreement was signed by GMA Chairman, President and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon and Mr. Ceasar M. Apostol, President of FILSCAP.
Present during the contract signing were FILSCAP Chairman Arturo Lui Pio, FILSCAP President Ceasar Apostol, GMA Chairman, President, and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA VP for Finance Ronnie Mastrili, (standing from L) FILSCAP General Manager Debra Ann Gaite, FILSCAP Legal Counsel Atty. Mark Thursday Alciso, GMA VP for Legal Affairs Atty. Dick B. Perez, GMA VP for Post Production Ding Achacoso, FILSCAP Corporate Secretary Kedy Sanchez, and GMA Lawyer for Research, Litigation, and Special Projects Atty. Vinney Ibarra. It was held last September 16 at the GMA-7 headquarters.
Some of the officers of FILSCAP include songwriter Nonoy Tan and acoutisc artist Noel Cabangon. According to the official website of FILSCAP, the said organization has 784 regular members as of August 2010.
